Wow, great discussion on more fuel, more air, more work, more heat!

I can not go back to stock turbo because HTT rebuilt mine into a 35/40 hybrid? They advertised it would lower my egt's caused by increased fueling from EZ and RV275 injectors.

From all the good advice here on TDR this is my current game plan:

1-Add an Autometer electric fuel preasure gauge and boost gauge, to match my pyrometer, pod mount on dash kit all from egauges- $300

2-SBC cold air box/intake (I like the clear top)- $275

3-BD intercooler with new hoses, check/clean/backflush radiator get rid of that hose/bottle blowbyoil thing-$1300 also add a protector to a/c condensor, I keep standing on bumper to work on engine and smash the fins!

4-Drive at 2100-2400rpms

5-keep listening to Joe Donnelly brag about those towing twins! Watch TDR advertising for used set up.

Thanks gentlemen!

That's how I got my hybrid. I sent my stock one to HTT and they worked it into a hybrid. For a brief moment I was shopping the TDR classifieds for a stock turbo to put back on in place of the hybrid, but decided against it, based on all the things mentioned in this thread. I learned how to drive differently and all is well.

Good luck.

Jeff,

Too bad you don't have the stock turbo to try! Oh well. I do hate to see you buy an intercooler if you think it will help lower egt's, but if your heart is set on it...

An aftermarket exhaust manifold instead?

Just kicking the thought around here, but have you considered saving the money on some of the other items and instead go with a 2-speed "underdrive" unit to have the option of using the mechanical advantage of the lower gears to reduce some of the drivetrain and engine load? I think that would almost justify the the cost for me. Just another thought. I'm not familiar with how easy they are to use, or their limitations. One of the brands is supposed to be preferred by more users than others but it would require some research.

It looks like you've already made some pretty good choices/improvements on your pulling power combo, I'd consider having more gear range options to save your equipment instead of straining it more.

I would not do the intercooler upgrade if you are only trying to lower your EGT's.

I would just save the $$ toward the twins using your existing HTT Hybrid. There are several kits available and not much harder than changing a single turbo. You will need to add head studs as a minimum as well.

I have about that set-up and I can pull as low as 60 MPH (1650 RPM) up to 1300F EGT @ 28 psi of boost. If I pull at 65 MPH (1800 RPM) the EGT's will stay close to 1150-1250F. When I down shift to 4th and run the RPM's up to 2100-2200 then the EGT's stay down around 1000F ussually. I typically downshift to 4th for any other than just a brief roller coaster hill.

And...

I run Mach 4 / 150 Hp injectors.

And... .

I seldom worry about EGT's.

IC is a waste of money for what you are looking to acomplish, do the S&B, bladerunner not worth the coin either, look for coolertubes on ebay, 185. 00 all SS, just run more RPM's and the hybrid will be perfect. A smarty would be better than the ez, you need a little bit more timing than the edge offers. DD

DD,

I'll install all the gauges and airbox then tow again at higher rpm's. I can't believe the aluminum intercooler and new boots doesn't help significantly.
