I talked to htt the other day and they recomended a killer b 64 13 ss. I told them I was looking to be at 500-600 hp when I was done with mods(injectors), but also be able to run as low as 375-400hp. I drive truck daily so I want the ability to adjust. JUst curious if anyone has setup close to my sig.

Thanks

Kevin

What size turbine? I am not familiar with this "Killer B" 64/__/13 SS.

If it has a 65mm wheel, you can probably spool it ok right now, if it has a 71mm, you will be a bit laggy until you are able to give it more fuel(injectors). If it has a 74mm wheel, I would shy away from it for everyday driving.

None of those will keep egt's in check at the 600hp level. You could make short/quick wot passes, but I do not believe the 64 wheel with a 13cm housing will flow enough air to support 600hp.

If you want a "street" application... . these 62/71, 64/71, singles are fun...

I had a 62/74/14, was a blast running around on the street, not worth a crap towing, and I was throwing a lot of fuel at it.

I am sure HTT gives good advice on the info they receive, you just have to be certain, in what you want your truck to behave like. There will be folks who will probably disagree with me, and that's ok, just giving you my experience.

I've got the 62/13 Stainless HTT (65mm wheel I believe). It works well, close to stock performance (spool) but with MUCH better cooling. I can run #9 smarty and keep the temps in check (when not towing). When towing I can keep them in check with #3.

How about #5 and #7? A stock turbo can keep EGT's cool on #3 so thats not saying much. If it is flowing much better you should be able to handle #5 easily and #7 with discretion. If not, its not enough of a step over stock to invest in.

If I remember correctly, the killer b was a 65 wheel. I ran the sled puller 66, 66/65/12 on my 04 for a couple of years. Dyno'ed 558 with it, Smarty, and injectors. Rail pressure kept me from getting more out of it. I used it as a daily driver, and I towed with it occasionally. EGT's were easily controllable with my right foot, even towing. Easily stayed under 1200*. It spooled fine. The 64 will spool even better, especially with the 13cm housing on it. That turbo, with a small set of injectors, should put you around 550. If you go too big on the injectors, you will start losing rail pressure, because the CP3 can't keep up. I wouldn't go over 40 or 50 hp on the injectors. Turbo and injectors alone put me around 375.

I can run around on 9 all day (empty) and not have a temp issue (read as < 1300). I don't like to tow above 3 due to driveline strain and not wanting to break anything but did make a trip to the beach just after I upgraded to the PoD and I ran on 9 with a power setting of 70. On that setting a made a couple on-ramp "rush entries" to the highway and It would get to 1350 and not exceed it. However, it wasn't a hot day and I'm betting on any sort of mountain grade #9 wouldn't work. On power #3 (pre-PoD) I have to work it really hard to get to 1200 (towing). I think the turbo I have could support 500-600 HP pretty easily - think I'm pretty close to that although haven't Dyno'd since the 411 Beta Smarty load.

As a comparison, bone stock I could hit 1300 towing in the mountains. With the stock turbo and smarty on #9 it would hit 1350 empty REALLY fast , and on #5 empty it would hold 1350 but you wouldn't want to tow that way.

JJPage,

would the 62/71 be considered htts superstock? I think I saw a superstock 62/71/13 somewhere but I can not remember:confused:

I am not sure what HTT names their turbos, but Superstock sounds familiar. (I was an II customer). HTT has a 62/71/14 which is basically the same as II's SPS62, Great manners, and tows well too. I believe you can get it with a 13cm ss housing if you want, a bit quicker spool up, flows slightly less.

I went from a 62/71/14(SPS) to a 62/74/14(Silver), the 74 turbine wheel was wicked with an empty truck, not so hot towing. After making that mistake, I contemplated a 64/65/13, 64/65/14, 64/71/13, 64/71/14..... See where this is going.

It is hard to get a single charger that will spool quick and flow enough to keep egts under control, and tow well. The 62/71/14 will do all of these very well to about 450/475hp, then you need more air, bigger wheel(64), then towing becomes a problem because of lag and surging.

If you are going to go with a 64mm compressor wheel, I would go with HTT's 64/65/13ss, or BD's Super B Special, which I believe is 64/71/14.

You have an auto trans like me, so we have a harder time than a standard trans spooling a big single, If you stick with 50/75hp injectors, your stock CP3 will be happy, and you should be able to spool a 64mm compressor wheel.

Hope this helps more than confuses. Jess

I run a HTT 64/65/13ss and absolutely love it. It cools excellent and spools awesome. I run TST stacked with Smarty TNT without issue. I tow my bass boat with TST off and Smarty TNT on level 3 and can't get it above 1300 degrees at wide open throttle getting onto the interstate. I highly recommend this turbo. The only downside is drive pressures can be 65-70lbs when boost hits about 48lbs. Tac

I don't have a drive pressure gauge, but still have it set to 40 PSI max. What drive pressure do you see @ 40 PSI?

Thanks!
