Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) TPS I think ???

Two weeks ago, I came home on my lunch break and left the truck running. On the way back to work, engine warm and normal power, I pull back on to the main drag AND SOOT OUT BOTH LANES. :--) :--) :--) This was coupled with excessive tire spin... Not a normal thing. :-laf

I had cranked the starwheel the week before but never noticed much of a change from it.

I checked the turbo. . It's fine and I can hear it wind down after a shutdown.

I don't know any good reason why the truck did it. Hasn't done it again in about 600 miles.

Anyone got any ideas on what went on or what to check for?? I'm talking complete and total. . thought my turbo took the day off, sooted enough to halt traffic. EGTs didn't get out of hand as it cleared after about 200 yrds

Hope it isn't something problematic. I had forgotten about it.

I can do that on demand on my 98 12v. You can hit the pump just right and it goes to full rack travel and the charger lights, then you're off in a hurry!

you mean cars arent SUPPOSED to stop behind you?? :-laf

J/K. all kidding aside, I wonder if the gov lever happened to be low enough when you mashed it, that it went under the plate?? that COULD cause more fuel than normal I think...

In all seriousness guys. . :D

pwerwagon is closer to what I think happened. I run it pinned to the floor all the time.

The truck isn't that stout. I've slid the stock plate 1/16th-1/8th of an inch (I forget) and that's really it. I'm guessing the starwheel doesn't have more than 10 cranks on it past stock. . The Automatic is trash. . it won't carry enough force to actually roast the tires. . that's why I thought this was odd. I usually just get two barks out of it on dry pavement and this actually turned them over.

The truck just shouldn't have dumped that much fuel into the motor. Like I said, It was like all of the fuel was there with no turbo. It hasn't done anything near that since. It was something mechanical but I don't know enough about the turbo to know what. I had read about the afc malfucntioning but the truck came out of it.

It was just very strange.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
