Competition need better 1/4 time!

The VTPA pull in Waterford has two diesel classes, street modified and extreme diesel. But, they're both 8,000 lbs.

Where did you get this info from? Were you able to contact someone from VTPA? 8K class is fine with me, that's what my truck and many others are set-up for. If this is the case, then I am definately attending as it sounds like it may be properly organized. Oo.

Joe

Unfortunatly I will be taking the Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock, CA off our schedule for this year as that event is run the same way. One big stupid class.

BBD

Yup, screw that event. It says right on the JSM site, 8000lb open class. No separation between the various truck set-ups.

You should go Scott, at least you'll win and get another plaque. :-laf J/K

Joe

Great job of promoting this event. This is the first I have heard of it. But as Scott mentioned, The price is too high, Just like the Fair, Lump all into one class. I realize that it takes quite a bit of work to put somthing like this on BUT... ... . How hard is it to get people that know something about contemporary diesel engine tech to break up classes a little. I would like to pull with my 93 but againsed trucks closer to my class. Be it by year (era), fuel system, and or turbo's and chassis mods.

I POSTED IT IN THE SOUTHWEST EVENT SECTION!!!!!!

what do you want to know about valley? same rules as Brian's. We set the rules up one night in turlock over dinner. So mlm and vtpa rules are inherently the same. Turlock is just a show off for the girls plain and simple

B. .

I can't access their truck rules page to see if they've changed the rules or not, but if Brandon says they match MLM's/DPO then I have to believe him--

Welcome to CaliforniaTractorPullers is the web page

I used to be a member from about 2002-2004 and they never sent me a renewal membership form for 2005, so to me that meant they didn't want me or my truck---they really didn't do anything for us, but they would let us pull--in the early years it was a little hectic, but it did get better, but they still didn't treat us as an equal---yes some of it was due to not being able to commit enough trucks to each pull to warrant their efforts, so I think it was just easier to phase me out--I think at that time there were 3 of us as members--Brandon, James Silva and myself--and then Brandon went JoHn DeErE green and Silva I'm not sure about---there's a little history for you guys---

so if you go be ready to have your pulling place changed as they always gave us a pulling order and then it would always change and we'd end up near the end--it made it tough, so be patient----chris

VTPA only has two classes, the rules are very generic (good 5 years ago) no were close to the MLM rules. And they don't allow tube chassis

I figured that out with out actiully reading them :D

BBD

scott I venture to say they would let you pull exhibition only prolly at any time in the show you ask for. you wont get stuck in the x class, I think the rules are still good they give a good generic coverage for a broad range of trucks. If A group of guys wanted to chase points then it would be made an official class, I feel the diesel guys are still a little independant, I am too so no waving fingers. The meetings from vtpa are open, I go thu nite @ 7:30

for its worth

Vtpa asked me if I could commit 5 guys to make a class. I replied "I dont think we can get 5 guys to garantee a points chase all year.

If you want a class then you only have to ask... ... . bottom line is you have to get involved if you want a class you cant just come to the pulls pay and pull. Look at the ss guys in valley they govern their own class and they do it well imho

IF YOU WANT IT THEN GUYS HAVE TO COMMITT TO THE SCHEDULE BOTTOMLINE

reb vtpa does not send a renewal notice in the mail for me either, thats just the way they are, I send the 40 in at every xmas, just my rule of thumb. the benefit of membership is 20 dollar hook fee instead of 40 so thats a worth while perk.

I am sorry if any one thinks I am ranting of squalling, but all we need is commitment

DPO?????? anyone... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... anyone?... ... ... ... ..... SOOTN?... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . anyone?

soot'n here---yes we need to talk when everyone is together--probably Redding, but you better get me before I knock back 30 beers, cuz my memory goes extremely fuzzy about then---chris

I hear you Brandon, now a day's it would be a synch to get 5 trucks and I would gladly pull exhibition if they created the classes for the other guy’s. Heck we aren’t even asking to chase points just make it fair for the guy’s to compete against each other for the trophy or a small pay out at each event. I did try to get involved a few years ago but they weren’t accepting memberships are they now?

Tom LOL you said DPO Chris has been spending our registration monies he collected for the last few years to get his truck ready :-laf

It's on VTPA's homepage under truck rules.

Where did you get this info from? Were you able to contact someone from VTPA? 8K class is fine with me, that's what my truck and many others are set-up for. If this is the case, then I am definately attending as it sounds like it may be properly organized. Oo.

if any one wants in I just gotta sponsor them in and you will get in, in the early years I declined the class due to the fact we would not get the committed draw. . if we can now then great, btw if we get a class or two then you could pull vtpa at turlock? that would be in the air a bit but anything is possible drive to casa de fruita this weekend I we can start plotting to take over the world

B--does the VTPA do payouts at the end of the year??? or is it just the $5 dollar trophy at each pull?? I don't recall----chris

sanctioned class=buckles and jackets 1,2nd respectively

non sanctioned=5 dollar trophies each pull

all you gotta do is chase points and get a sponsor to give class winners some stuff, you know someone like 50 dollar gift cert for bd or some other thing like that, but that is all part of the self governing that needs to be done if a class is established

a long time ago we would have everyone throw in 20 for a pot to win, that is feasible too. .

So I sent John Shippman a an e-mail he is the guy who you sled pull with at the Turlock event, in conjustion with the VTPA, but Shipman runs the diesel truck class (notice class is not plural)

ME:

John, what is going take for you guy’s to start making classes for the Diesel 4x4 pick ups?

I could beat up on the daily drivers at every event and all that does is discourage them and they quit. I am trying to help grow this sport as we are here to stay but we need classes and some division to help it grow. Three classes would be great Street, Super Street, and Modified. I even have all the rules.

I need your help on this though

Regards,

John:

SCOTT,our shows are already to long , we are going to have to start dropping classes not adding. we only have 3 hours for our shows.

john

ME:

John I don’t understand. How does dividing up the same amount of trucks add time? If I have 20 trucks in one big class, or if I have 10 trucks in a Street class, 5 in Super Street and 5 in Modified it’s still the same amount of time pulling wise, we just pull right behind each other.

I pulled this past weekend we had 23 trucks and so my tube frame, purpose built, water injected, twin turbo, Rockwell equipped, tilt bodied truck really handed it to the poor soccer mom who pulled in her stock Excursion she and about 10 other guys with there work trucks were furious and I don’t blame them as it was stupid to lump us all in to one generic class. If people need to limit the amount of trucks to keep a time line that is different and it could be on first to register basis. But we need the classes to make our sport grow. We are growing by leaps and bounds, and should be treated, at the very least, like our gasser counterparts at these events.

Regards,

Scott Vorhees

John:

SCOTT, SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TRUCK DOES NOT FIT INTO OUR 8000 LB CLASS. OUR INTENT ON THAT CLASS IS FOR THE LOCALS TO BE ABLE TO RUN THIER TRUCKS,IT IS NOT FOR THE PRO LIKE YOURSELF. I AM SORRY YOU CANT COMPETE , BUT IF WE CHANGE OUR CLASSES IN THE FUTURE I WILL LET YOU KNOW.

JOHN

I didn't change that to all caps it was sent that way :-laf

So screw you guy's your all in one generic class, and be sure to pay John big bucks on the way in.

Sorry I won't be attending as I said before I refuse to beat up on the daily driver trucks. If I have to hook to the light pole out front and yank it out the ground to get my fix then so be it :-laf

Things won't change fellers unless we stand some ground and make them change.
