I was gettin' ready to post an update about my turbo and what WeirCummin's was doing for me, but ya beat me to it--I can't thank you (WeirCummin) enough for the help in this matter--it sure makes sense about the shaft being the culprit---I can't wait to get it on as I might enter a tractor pull in a couple of weeks-or anyway I'm contemplating it--THANK YOU DEAN----chris

Add another Majestic prepped HX-40 to the blown list. Exactly 2 weeks and 90 EASY miles its been on. I filled and pressurized the center section with oil before I fired it. Cold side impeller has 1/4" side to side movement and some fore & aft movement. It won't build any boost. Starts making noise at 1/4 throttle. It still spins though. Only hit 35 lbs boost, then it let go. I don't have mega fueling or excessive EGT's. Never had a hot turbo shutdown. Probably a bearing like you guys said. I'll pull it tommorrow and send it back to Majestic Monday. UNBELIVEABLE #ad

This is one of those topics that we wish would fade away. Sorry to hear of your plight Hemi. Sure sounds like the bearings are gone.

High Tech Turbo in SLC can do the same turbo mods as Majectic at equivalent prices. They've been in business almost 3 times longer than Majestic. They also recommend a hybrid HX35 over the HX40.

Bart, more info on the Hybrid HX35, please. I need to get rid of some high egt's, and don't want to go to the HX40 cause of the Pacbrake.
Thanks, Larry

Do any of you guys know how to get a wheel of off and H1E or H2E so that I can put it on my HX-40? I don't really want to go through the expense of a whole new turbo because I want to add twins as soon as anyone is ready to sell a kit. ( nothing against Enterprise, I just believe in competition )

The hybrid HX35, as I understand it, is something Holset doesn't manufacture as a unit so a core is needed. It consists of either a 14 or 16cm exhaust housing and a HX40 size compressor wheel and compressor housing. 24 valve trucks in the SLC area (4200 ft elevation) are making more boost but with somewhat higher EGTs with this turbo and 14cm housing than with a stock 16cm HX40. They also have less smoke and are much more drivable. Cost, including labor, for the compressor side of things is less than $300. Complete turbo with 14cm waste gated housing is less than $700. High Tech Turbo believes these turbos are better for the ISB because they have quite a bit less rotating mass than the HX40. I don't have hp comparison figures yet. Holset has almost doubled the price of most HX40 models in the last few months which makes the H2E more attactive for seriuos hp junkies.

hate to drag this up , but add arcticats hx40 by majestic to the list , i put it on my truck monday nite and it failed within 40 miles .

trying to find a number for majestic so i can get the ball rolling to get it fixed ?????

Hello Mr. HVAC

A. K. A. the god of cummings power how is the devolopement of your twin turbo setup coming as it is painfully obvious that the HX40 is not the hot ticket. Anybody else got twin's for sale... ... ... . price... ..... hp numbers... ... inquiring minds gota know

:D

Thanks

DD

Twin Chargers

Diesel Dan,

I've just spotted your post regarding twin turbos. I have learned a lot while R & D'ing the two charger arrangement on my truck. Wednesday I will be tearing my motor apart and reconfiguring my turbo setup to gauge improvements with a new layout. I've tried several housings and combos and I continue to hone a two turbo setup that works on the street as well as for performance.

Also, there is some top secret hybrid technology eminating from another source in NorCal that may render the HX40 obsolete:)

Stay tuned...

In my eyes the HX-40 is obsolete and has been ever since I saw my 1st post regarding one grenading after a short life.

Why is it that nobody is using the Garrett series turbos? They can be had with a ceramic ball-bearing center section for better spool and MANY different A/R ratios... . I've seen in person a 1. 40 A/R exhaust housing and a 96mm compressor wheel..... I'm pretty sure we could use this one, right!? :D (BTW, that turbo is on a Buick Grand National that goes 8's in the 1/4 mile. ) Who cares if we need a 200-shot to spool it?! ;)

I do believe that someone was using a nice big Garrett on their twin-turbo setup... it looked like a T-76 to me... ... it was a T-series turbo with the big 4-bolt turbine housing... . speak up! I want to see more, and hear about it!

Matt
