Well I am from Pittsburgh Pa and just got back from Thunder in Muncie and loved every minute of it and then some. I fell in love.

Yes I did fall in love, with the state of Indiana and the area of Muncie. Why because the people are better there than here in Pittsburgh. The streets are cleaner, than here in PGH, PA.

People in Muncie actualley know HOW TO DRIVE, unlike people here in PGH, PA. The homes and neighborhoods are a lot better than here in PGH, PA. What I mean is they are not all ran down and look like they are ready to be torn down unlike the ones here in PGH ,PA. The spacing of houses are not like they are here in PGH, PA there not on top of one another. People acutely take pride in the way there homes and community looks, unlike the people here in PGH, PA. When they build a community and there are trees they leave them and build around them, or plant new trees, un like they do here in PGH,PA, they would just cut them down or plow over them they just build and never do anything to make it look good, it always looks strial. I would not have a problem with packing up everything I Owen and move out there tomorrow. I have no problem with waking up and seeing wheat and corn fields as far as the eye can see at times. I have no problem with having to drive 10 or 15 minutes to a store.

I guess the bottom line is I'm tried of living here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and getting the crap screwed out of me every time I cash my pay check or every time some yahoo comes up with a idea to put more money in his pocket and take it out of mine. Just way to many bleeding hearts and tree huggers here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Its like any thing that will work for the working man here in Pennsylvania they don't want or don't want to try because it might work, like it did some where else.

Like I said before I guess I'm just tired of Pennsylvania and all its bull ******. The last couple of years this feeling has been getting stronger to want to move out of here, and I guess this weekend just put the icing on the cake.

I cant just pick up and move at this moment due to other comments I have to keep but I will defiantly be saving up to make the big move out of here in a few years.

I could go on and on with my comparisons from Muncie to Pittsburgh PA, but its just makes me mad and gets my blood pressure high.

Sorry for the rant but had to do it.

Indiana is a great state to live in.

I moved here from Los Angeles back about 7 years ago.

There is absolutely no comparison on how much better it is here.

That and the damn road signs. I thought ole Sleddy was BS'n us about the road signs. I have never felt more "wondering where I was at" than in Indiana. Lets see, I have never been accused of going 3 directions at one time , until now. We were driving west on a road that was going north and and east. I would never live there for the fact, I couldn't find my work place and it took over an hour to find a Wal-Mart... ... .



The area and the people were nice, alot of nice houses and the roads were smooth, for the most part. Its all in what you want out of life... .

GIT-R-Done, I know exactly what you mean. I think at one point I was on a road that went in every compass direction besides the one it said it was going. Finally, I just used my overhead console compass to figure out which way to go. The roads in Missouri are so rough it's like driving through a freshly plowed field but at least our road signs give you an idea of where you're going. It's so nice to drive on the smooth roads in Illinois and Indiana though.

I HATE the San Francisco Bay Area here in California. This place is everything I hate wrapped up in one giant cesspool. Greed, money, dishonesty, lust, ignorance and corporations are the name of the game around here. I moved here because my wife graduated Chico State around 2001, right when California was economically in the hole. Her only job offer was in Oakland, so we moved just outside of Oakland. Since then we moved to the outskirts of the Bay, into our home.



There is light at the end of the tunnel…

I will be a Journeyman substation electrician on March 4th 2005.

My wife got a job transfer to Redding California, and is living there during the week. (Nice, rural place)

We will sell our house here as soon as I become a Journeyman.

I will try to stay with the utility company that I work for, and transfer to Redding, if that does not work out I will quit and find employment myself in Redding.



My advice to you...

MOVE!

The only reason why I am still here is because I am almost done with my apprenticeship.

Life is too short to hate where you live

Truckie, you live in the wrong place in PA Central PA is beautiful land... Where I live used to be beautiful, but it's ending very quickly, Philadelphia is moving to Morgantown We have 4 new LARGE developments, a wal-mart being built, two industrial parks (one is a good one, lots of jobs, the other was just to get the zoning on a cornfield changed, so they could build wal-mart)





Oh well... now I am rambling too...



Anyway, PA definitely has some beautiful areas, just not within 75 miles of Philly or Pgh

Like I said before I will be saving for the big move in the future, the only thing is I may find another spot by than. Owell as long as I like it.

You got that right. I saw three signs in one intersection that read as follows:



62 west

62 east

62 north



Every one had it's own road and arrow pointing a diffrent direction. You've got to be kidding me! T'was a great show though.

My wife and I used to live in the S. F. bay area. 3 years ago we moved to Jackson CA (gold country foothills--about 3 hours east of bay area). Took a while getting used to people not tailgating, not using their middle finger, saying hello to a strangers when passing on the sidewalk, stopping to ask if your o. k. when on the side of the road, neighbors looking out for each other, no boom box cars driving back and forth down the street at 2 am



I guess I could go on and on. If your not happy try and move, you won't regret it.

I've been to alot of states... but I've always lived in Indiana and always feel at home here. I'm only 5 miles from Illinois but always get this strange feeling over there... like I'm not supposed to be there.



There are alot of nice small Indiana towns. Job market is non-existant in my opinion unless your close to Indy. Indy for the most part has its good and very bad sides... just as expected from any metro area. But you can live 1/2 hour away and be in the middle of a field in a town like Muncie. If you find the Indiana map with all the small towns shown... its amazing how many there are.



I would like to live near Danville IN. Its 45 minutes from downtown Indy yet I can go 45 minutes in the opposite direction and be at the Parke County covered bridge festival. Places like Danville are nice small communities and the county and town governments have good people in them who take GREAT pride in their towns and way of life. In fact I attended my towns (Fairview Park IN) board meeting tonite. They are cracking down on people with trash and debris in their yards... and fixing complaints of grass not growing where construction work was performed. They do a good job of maintaining roads with what they have and the police are nice folks who we trust.



As far as road signs... I think its pretty much up to the county highway departments and they all do it different. Some counties are superb in signage while others (like mine) have no signs. You turn at the Helt Farm and go past "Tree in the Road" for the directions. Our county spent big bucks on 911 addressing and computer mapping... yet few signs exist to find these places Our county uses distance mapping based on the county seat as 0. 00N 0. 00E. So an east-west road 10 miles south of the court house is CR 1000 South. A north-south road 1. 25 miles east of the court house is CR 125 E. OK I suppose if you could remember where to begin when looking for an address like 11257 S. 325 W.



The county south of us uses all names... like Jones Lane or Smith Avenue. Depending which quadrant you in... the road has different designations like Street, Lane, Avenue, Place, Road etc. Just hearing the address gives you some clue... yet no idea about distance. And they have signs at every intersecion unlike ours.

I've lived in IL since '98. Sure miss Iowa, even the gravel roads. Still doesn't feel like home.

I know what you mean by "Still doesn't feel like home". I moved to central Virginia around two years ago and I still fell like I'm just visiting. It's like when I was in the service. I knew that I would be going back home after my hitch was up. I hope that this feeling wears off. I can't afford to pick up and move again!
