"In fact, the ORIGINAL MB spec for the G56, Mobil SHC_DC, is a GL4/GL5/MT1 rated 75w/90 gear lube and would likely be FINE to use in both the diffs and G56. Unfotuantely it is no longer manufactured and the Delvac 50, which is only GL4/MT1 is the only available replacment, and is NOT suitable for use in the diffs, only the G56."

Just thought I would mention the Detroit Diesel as it might apply to the statement quoted above....I suspect it is a Pentosin product.

Have you found any other ratings for it, other then the GL4??

It's like "Stealth Oil" as far as finding anything out regarding content and specs. My oil distributors can't do anything with it either.

My point (I think...:-laf) is this MIGHT work to replace the original MB G56 75W90 spec for the GL4 SHC_DC if someone was so inclined. Maybe not, but I wonder.....

Found the MB spec for it here--

https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/235.11_en.html

It is a MB 235.11 lube. other lubes listed in the same catgory include the Delvac 1 and Mobiltrans MBT 75w90, but not the Mobiltrans SHC-DC which is a MB 235.13 spec--

https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/235.13_en.html

What the actual difference, if any, between the 235.11 and 235.13 specs are unknown at this point time, but as you can see in the last link, the MB 235.13 spce is ONLY met by the Mobiltrans SHC-DC and not ANY other oil.

Good stuff there Seafish!!!

The only thing that nags at me is Detroit Diesel saying that nothing else meets the spec for the DT12 transmission. We are not allowed to top off or drain/refill with any other product. I'll keep pounding my distributors as more info comes available.

I like that Mercedes interactive lube chart, I'm saving that.

Just checked pricing in our system at work, about $60.00 per gallon. Certainly costs like an MB product should......:-laf
