Never Ever Forget

China pump e-mail

I have been waiting for this day for 16 long hard months now, some of you have read that 16 months ago my employer assigned me a task of being an inspector for the construction of a new processing plant for whats considered to be some of the most challenging gas in the world, the plant was to cost 278 million bucks, well it ended up costing right at 350 million by the time we got it to completion.

Today at 11:45 am we put inlet feed into it and are slowly bringing it up to speed, we are currently at 100 mmcfd (million cubic feet per day) that is turndown rate which is as slow as it can ever go but still be on-line, this is giving us 67 mmcfd to sales and the rest (co2 and h2s) is being sent to flare to be burnt into so2 until we get our catilist beds sulfided, we should have that done by 7 pm tomorrow and then all the tailgas will be turned into sulpher and then to sales, we currently have a waiver to emmitt these burnt gases to atmosphere. up-turn is 200 mmcfd feed with 120 mmcfd sales.

I have been extremly pre-occupied by the plant construction and am very tired of overtime and 7 day schedules. when the plant gets "GINNIN" ( thats what we call it when all systems are in good shape) then I get to go back on shift :) 7 on and 7 off :D ... ... ... ... ... . I am over ready to get back to normal... ... ... ... . Kevin

Normal = twisted & Twisted = Normal :D thats my norm,

Today is another success, we now have the TGU Scott catilist presulfided and are in the amine plant to clean up the remaining 5% of the tailgas , it gets stripped and then sent back to the SRU to be converted into sulfer, we are not flaring any tail gas ... ... ..... good for the emmissions, we turned it up a pinch and are at 120 mmcfd inlet, ... ... ... ... ... ... . Looking great so far, this place is giving me a semi  Kevin

Ignorance is Bliss

Pardon me, but could you please speak English? What's with all this talk of sulpher? I thought you said something about gas... I'm not an idiot, I just have zero knowledge of what you do. Please explain in a short-version what happens where you work and why... THX

yeehaw

Well we finally did it up good, the plant has proven itself to the point that after 16 months I now get to go back on shift as an opperator, ya baby 7 on and 7 off, I LOVE IT :) I will actually get some days off, life is good.

BC , in a nut shell we bring in what we call sors gas, the composition is 67% methane this is what we want and this is where the money is, then we have 13%hss (hydrogen sulfide ) a couple of breaths of this at these concintrations and you are toes up :{ and we have 20% co2 and we get water with it too and all this is 300 plus degrees, we first cool the total flow, then strip h2s and then strip co2, now the methane is sold and the co2 is vented legally to atmosphere and the h2s , we then call it acid gas is feed to our SRU where we convert it to sulpher, we usually never make money on sulpher but it is a by-product that we have to deal with... ... ... ... ..... this plant will make 100 grand in 48 minutes ... ... ... ... ... ... I LOVE IT, I see a BIG bonus in my near future, I can spell BOMB... ... ..... Kevin
