You do know you have a small funnel under the passenger seat you can use right?
Then you don't need the plastic hose
that come in the Blue DEF box.

Dave...

I always remove the PEAK cardboard box and just the plastic jug. Works better that way for me.

In 39k on my 16 this is all I have ever used. Never spilled except once when I cross threaded the hose! Leaked a little but fixed it then never a leak after that. Guess there should be DEF Tank refilling classes! :-laf

Hey Be nice! Some of us don't know how bad our 12s are:cool:

Ha ha, nothing wrong with the 2012 at all. If these trucks are used the way Ram designed them to be used, they all work pretty darn good. I just think the amount of hand wringing and anger at DEF is unwarranted for the gains you get. More power, better fuel mileage... MINOR and inexpensive inconvenience every couple thousand miles. Sounds reasonable to me!

Aero_Dave, I only use that small funnel for fuel additives - anti-gel. Don't want to risk cross-contamination. BTW, neat name. I assume there is an aviation component to it.

This stuff is a major PITFA man! I mean, I'm all for clean air but lets do it right. All diesel pumps should have it with the auto shutoff feature like the big rig stops. Using the cardboard container to fill is a joke. No mater what I do it leaks all over.
Make sure you tighten the plastic nozzle plenty tight when you put it on the bottle. I thought it was tight the first time I used it but wasn't and leaked. I really set up on it the next time and had no more leaks. The way the bottle and nozzle are designed makes it hard to get started and tighten, IMO.

Ammonia NH³

Urea CH⁴N²O

Just because molocule was used to creat another molocule does not mean it's present in the final product.

the thought of hating DEf..oh the inconvenience of it all... look how hard I worked today..... I just put a 2.5 gallon jug of the stuff in my truck after 6 months and 9500 miles of driving since my last addition of the magical clean air elixir, I was finally down below a quarter tank of DEf.

Are the systems prone to failure or do people just not like dealing with it? I'm kinda new to diesel and am familiar with the system I just don't understand the frustration with it

like anything , somebody is always going to gripe. generally the more ignorant they are the more they will complain about things that they don't understand and their thoughts probably aren't true. what I have seen of diesel emissions stuffat my job is basically that it works..
