Competition A T P A Rules

Competition which dd clutch for pulling

What every happened to the Good Sleds the ones that didnt have the crappy plow set up

Ok lets get going and gain the most momentum we can while we can then the plows going to drop then we only have momentum left to progress HP or TQ IMO is not a factor at this point it has become who ever can get the most momentum built up the first 1/2 to 3/4 track after that your PLOWING

... IN THE DAY IT TOOK A FULL RANGE OF HP/TQ to pull the furthest as the weight slowy gained as the sled moved down the track those are the pulls I like You can see/hear/ and feal the weight slowly being added and as the sled gets heavyer the motor is really working ... now its FLOOR IT GO REAL FAST AND BAM DROP THE PLOWS thats retarded Im sorry I Know they set the plows to drop where most will get stoped at 300 ft for the drematic appeal of it all ... but com'mon lets work the trucks all the way.

Am I ALONE ON THIS RANT ???

I worked the sleds for 3 years we had a real sled not one of those fancy plow boys either ... . I under stand that sometimes we may have took to long to add / subtract weight from the sled but its worth it to see a real pull

COME ON OVER TO THE GUN CLUB PULLS IN PERRY COUNTY OHIO THATS A REAL SLED AND YOU WILL GET THE REAL FULL EXPIRENCE WATCHING THE CTD DO WHAT THEY DO FROM FT 1 to FT 300+

ANd when I worked the sled we could stop ANYONE!!

DM

AS I RE-READ my post I beleave I fully Agree with myself :-laf

So its a battle of the sled operator and the Sled(PLOW) and not as much of a battle of the truck and sled Like it should be.

I tried to reason with myself for why everyone seems to be going to the plow design the ony thing I could think of was to speed up the amout of time it takes for trucks to pull.

The reason people go to the pulls to to see pulls if I remember correctly

This is pulling not racing to a point and then CRASH TEST DUMMY at 300ft as the plow drops

IF ITS A REAL SLED MITCHELL WOULD DESTROY SCHIED 10 of 10 But due to the whipy plow sleds Scheids RACE TRUCK HALF BRED Has the advantage If it was the real world MITCHELL would drag the sled all the way with raw POWER and SHIED would realize its not a real pulling truck.

Dont get me wrong I love both trucks But after watching 2 hrs of pulling videos Im tired of seeing what the world is consituting as transfer sled pulling because What I seen @ Muncie Was NOt.

"IF ITS A REAL SLED MITCHELL WOULD DESTROY SCHIED 10 of 10 But due to the whipy plow sleds Scheids RACE TRUCK HALF BRED Has the advantage"

Those are some strong words. I like both of these trucks, I'm not willing to say who would whoop who 10 out of 10 though. There is a lot of power between the two of them, thats for sure.

Craig

What video of Muncie were you watching of Mitchell vs Scheid?

In 04, that was Ryan Milby in the white truck, not Dave Mitchell. Dave wasn't there.

If the Muncie sled seemed to stop stuff in a hurry, it was because the shut down area was short.

Sleds, operators, are as different as tracks. As a puller, you don't get to choose which one you want. You have to be able to adapt to whatever is there.

Thats part of the sport, and it makes it fun, and challenging.

What a "Real Sled" is, could be argued for the next millennia.

Muncie 2004 video is what I watched MY FAV ERIK STACY Broke Big TIME Schiend Kicked major rear it was awesome ... Also no my DVD ((NON-OFFICAL MUNCIE VIDEO)) They had Mitchel VS a Ford truck that looked like trash but it had a semi motor or something in it the guy did a real poor job driving HOPPING LETTING OFF GETTING ON IT AND then BAM OHH MYY GODD It stood up and KICKED MAJOR AZZ I could not beleave it I dont know who's truck that was but it is WIKID Sciends couldnt touch it from what I seen ((*NOTE: 2 Diffrent venues))

The same sled was used at both tracks So thats what I was compairing S-VS-M

Ive seen both of them pull many times LIKE I said before I like both trucks (stacys my fav)

IMHO

Mitchell RAW POWER

Schieds Momentum Builder

Lamans Terms... (PERRY COUNTY TERMS)

If i was to pull out a stump in the yard Id take Mitchells truck anyday And use RAW LUGGING POWER TO REMOVE THE STUMP

If I was to have a 200 Ft log chain And BAck all the way up to the stump gimme Schieds

If ZOMBIES were ATTACKING IM STEALING STACYS TRUCK AND BOOKING IT TO THE COAST

LOL

---------------

Any way you can remove human interaction on a sled is better more fair compition for all pullers WE COULD ALWAYS HOLD THE HAND BRAKE ON OUR SLED OR SWITCH GEARS ON SOME ONE AND NOBODY WOULD EVER KNOW... .

even leaving the transfer sled in nutral about 3/4 way threw a big class when a real GELOPY is up ... . all rusted out with no BOMBS YOU would be supized how few people realize the transfer not moving as they watch the junker break the 300ft mark all those fancy painted up sponcered trucks could'nt touch

Its great Of couse it was set up and he didnt win but it was a blast .

______________

Let the Trucks pull the sled not the sled operator and Forget the plows ... . If I wanted to watch a tuck plow some clay Id Go to the farm.

I go to pulls to watch the trucks overcome ... ...

Im still amazed by what we can do with automobiles it truly is a great time to be alive

I hear the CTD pulling in the holler next to my home As I lay in bed having to get up @ 3AM ... ... . i LISTEN TO THE roar COMMING tHROUGH THE TREES AND I GET CHILLS You can hear the MOTOR UNDER CONSTANT LOAD ALL THE WAY... . you can tell its slowily getting more resistance and the turbo spools more trying to ballace the added load till guess what ... THEY SPIN OUT EVERY TIME IVE NEVER SEEN A CTD LOSE POWER>>>>EVER!!!!!!

Till the plows

Think of how much harder it is on the motor to be wound up and then dead stoped you can hear there pain as the turbo HUFFS ITS just flat out CRUEL AND I DO NOT ENJOY Watching CTD get abused like that

I Will NEVER PULL A PLOW SLED

Give me a real trasfer sled so I can look down at my gauges going down the track as I feal my motor gaining POWER then GET AS Far AS I can before I loose traction...

THE other way it would be Hook up ... . tighted chain... . NAIL IT... go fast... go faster... . (PLOWS DROP) ... stop BIG TIME ... . hear thing breaking ...

Not FOr Me

But I rather watch PLOW SLEDS THAN NO SLEDS SO Im just going to have to get over it I guess.

DM

YOu DoG

LOL

YOur the one that qouted me . so your guilty as well

What do you do LONG IN---- POST,,,,,, THEN--- LOG OUT your sig always says OFFLINE??? Why Would you want it that way

PS

PLOW SLED's STILL SUCK

---------------------------------

I KEEP GETTING BANNED FORM FORUMS IM AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE

DTR -BANNED

OLB -1/2 BANNED THEN JETTED

TDS- THREATEND BANNED

DRF- WISH I WAS BANNED

DTF- ON MY WAY OF GETTING BANNED THEN IT SHUT DOWN

SLED PULLER,

IM SPEAKING FROM THE BLECHERS HERE I DONT PULL SO IM NOT TRING TO SEEM LIKE I KNOW ALOT ABOUT IT ... . JUST WHAT I SEE

Tell ME Why THe PLOWS add a benifit to the sport

I see it as somewhat of a restrictor plate and that has ruined NASCAR IMO

DM

Can't answer about login-I haven't logged out today.

First of all, this is the first time I have heard them called plow sleds.

From the absolute JUNK I have hooked my truck to, a Hager or Bauer sled is welcome anytime.

I would prefer they set them up to avoid the abrupt stop. Same sled was at Muncie and Scheids, it was a hair smoother stopping at Scheids, but we had unlimited run off area.

I don't mind them, they are easier on the truck launching, IMO.

We Need to just get Schied and Mitchel to hook Bumber to Bumber

I'd bet $1000 Mitchel Would EAT EM" UP

This is not because I live 15 mins from EEP

Schieds truck has no Low end power compaired to mitchells

THe reason you can launch so well is your not pulling any weight for the first SO MANY FEET.

SCheids truck is built (VERY WELL) For the SMooth launch and HIGH REVS to go FAST

Mitchells has PEAK TQ at diffrent regions than schieds

Mitchel could grab ahold of the seld at 3/4 track and still pull it out the gate from a dead stop I BET that Schieds couldnt budge it

Dave Blauser can stop anybody because nobody pulls at the Gun Club. That sled takes off kind of rough with sticky tires, but it brings you to a nice, slow, smooth stop.

But I do agree that the Gun Club has awesome pulls, even though they are just about every 2 weeks. Its a differnt kind of pull that is so unorganized that it seems more like just a bunch of your friends getting together and having fun, rather than a bunch of people you don't know at a huge event. I hope the Gun Club pulls never change.

John

Isn't the whole idea of truck pulling revolve around pulling the tallest gear you can, and running the highest rpm possible, and then getting the most ground speed possible? No matter what sled?

Michael

IMO

sled pulling is to show whos truck is MORE of a truck as well as showing the drivers knowlage of his brain child. Kind of I can build mine better sort of thing alond with the Adrenilen rush driving .

Running highest rpm possible ,,,,, Has nothing to do with truck pulling Look at how low RPM CTD are stock and they will out pull a red lined GAsser .

Most ground speed ..... uhhhhh... . I pretty sure thats for the drag racers many bad CTD dragsters

ITS MOST GROUND POWER thats what pulling a sled signifies

Kind of hard to get away from the whole piont of it but THEY HAVE !!

Dave Blauser puts alot of effort in to keeping our pulls in the down home mode ... but this can get local hero's some unfair advantages... . I WILL ADMIT THAT IVE seen it and Ive had it happen to ME.

HE DREAMED up the "CIRCLE JERK" if no one knows what this is ... . Ill dream up a pic... ... ... ... ... . You hooked about 1/2 track and had to cross a line that was made as a big circle so many feet in front of the trucks ... this style did not succeed because TEMPERS WENT THROUGH THE ROOF when Some one lost MONO-E-MONO ... . REAL SHOW DOWN ON WHO'S BETTER IMO

Lets see S-VS-M in this style

I really doubt that Schieds is running that much more rpms than Dave, the biggest difference in the 2 is that Daves truck is set up to stay hooked to the track especially with the cut 4x4 tires and Schieds is set up to blow the tires off all the way down the track.

I don't know if you have attended a ATPA or NTPA event lately, but there aren't any trucks or tractors that lug the sled down the track. It is all about momentum and wheel speed. And I think Dave had better worry about Van's truck, and the truck that Ed west is building. Lots of power, wheel speed, traction, and abuilt drivetrain. And I hope that Dave will make it to the two big Indiana events this year. Todd
