The Smarty on my truck (running 309 software) just doesn't seem to offer anything more than my TST (both using VA for pressure) except SMOKE lots of it. I rarely care for the smoke, I just installed a rebuilt set of injectors with Flux 1's and the smoke with Smarty is just as bad as it was with tired 90hp sticks. Smarty offers no milage increase as compared to TST and VA. at least on my truck. Seat of the pants power is similar with either setup. On top of that my throttle routinely hangs on the 3 to 4 shift under light or moderate throttle when using any of the 309 programs. My other gripe is that the Smarty seems to cut the trottle distance in half, in that 1/4 throttle with Smarty is like half throttle stock and half throttle Smarty is full throttle stock, though it seems like your pretty much all in at 1/2 throttle Smarty, the second half of the throttle doesn't seem to do much.

So after 6 months the only advantage the Smarty gives me is reading DTC's and the high idle. I am not going to sell it because it is fun to give a smoke show once in awhile and I do believe in the potential of the Smarty. For the time being however I will drive around with the TST and VA and keep the Smarty handy for when I want to blow smoke.

The TST was the latest and greatest once, just the smarty's turn right now. TST is still lurking in the shadows.....

Have you tried running the TST and smarty with the VA? I ran that combo with the EZ for awhile and it was an awesome combo just started breaking stuff though.

The new beta 4. 4 takes care of those problems and a few more. Much better street maners with plenty of power.

when will that be available to the public? also what about this "hot" tune?

I would think they should soon available on the web site. I have run both the race 4. 2 and the 4. 4 and couldn't find any problems or anything I may want to change. The 4. 4 makes my truck run like a 12v and I like it. The 4. 2 is what some will want. It is more aggressive with little torque management if any. Both have reduced torque management and make plenty of power.

Well I would at least try the 310 version of software that is available for the S-04A Smarty. I don't have aftermarket injectors, but the 310 Moderate Torque Management version for aftermarket turbo did help with the SMOKE issue. With built TC/Trans upgrades I am sure there are fairly wide variations of shift patterns. Mine has very fast 2-3 shift in low acceleration, but not too bad. The 310 version did help that some also.

I agree that the power when compared to TST/Pressure versus the Smarty will seem somewhat the same. But on mine the difference is that the Torque Management relief is very helpful on the bottom end and the Smarty will also fuel through higher rpms than just the TST/Pressure box on mine.

I am currently running the Smarty 310 software version with Moderate Torque Management on SW #4, TST R49 05tt on 3/0 and EZ on Level 1 for daily driving. Smoke is much easier to control than 309 software version and trans shifting closer to normal.

When you get a chance try 4. 4. It's like a differant animal. Normal driving produces little or no smoke and every thing works. transmission shifts and even the overhead is very close.

had so many problems with the tst on my 03 sold it and will never own another one. smarty on the 06 ya the trans does hand up from 3rd to 4th but mine does that bone stock. love the smarty and seen mileage increase with the smarty and not at all with the tst only check engine light stayed on

If you are stacking a Smarty and pressure box with injectors, you need more fuel coming from the CP3. What type of rail pressures are you running? Like it was said before, the 4. 4 is one wicked program. :)

Okay so Bob Wagner e-mailed me the Beta 4. 4 software, and my first impression is Yikes. No one told me that software played with the pressure. Pressure doesn't quite saturate the sensor but she hits 26-27kpsi, however the pressure ramps up VERY quick and my idle pressure went from 7kpsi to 9kpsi.

The smoke is far less than 307 and 309 software yet the low end power on my truck is much better. Temps will take a little more experience in varied ambient temps but at a glance they are lower. The truck is definately louder than it was but its not the same "rattle" that I heard with the "309 w/stock injector" software. The sound is more of a "chug" like a 12-valve though not that loud.

I would like to thank Bob Wagner for his very prompt response, thank you sir.

And yes, I do like my Smarty again!

Bob's customer service seems pretty good.

He is also a great guy if you meet him in person. I think if you give him a chance he will do what I'd do to make things right. JMHO after having met him a time or three.

I believe we are going through the growing pains right now and I apprciate all the feedback and support.

The smarty is a work in progress and will always keep getting better as we learn more of the tweaks.

I have taken some bumps and bruises in the past few months but I am always trying to make your input to help us make a better end product.

Please don't give up on us we have a lot more to offer.

Thank you

I've found 4. 4 brings the pressure up arround 2K across the rpm range starting at idle which is now at 9K. This helps with atomazation and gives us less smoke and more power at normal driving speeds=more mpg. I'm now seeing 20. 5K-22K at 60-70 mph. Mine won't get over 24. 5K at wot with the II 90 hp injectors but will spike 27. 5K when I let off.

i have also just started noticing the rougher idle. and the different tone while driving at highway speeds. but i have noticed the mpg's to be up alittle. and the power is much nicer.

i may have phrased that wrong. the engine sounds like it is idleing rougher. its not really rattling but it is just generally louder than before. there is also a noticealbly different exhaust tone while on the highway. not too sure why.
