It won't be long for me either. At least mine is in the garage at night.

This will be my first winter experience with a diesel. I don't think it will be too bad.

From what I've read, just pour some anti-gel in the tank when you fill up and should be ok. I did purchase the block heater cord and will install this weekend. Even bought a timer. It'll be nice to have warm air from the get go in the heater in the morning. My old 99 V10 gasser would take about 5 minutes to get warm air. I'd be half way to work before it go warm.

Don't know where your located, but most truck stops and stations already have anti-gel in their fuel. I've never added it and have run in sub zero weather several times.

They add it because gelled up fuel in the fuel tank has a hard time moving through the pump to your truck and that makes it hard for your money to pump into their pockets. :-laf

Warm air when you plug it in??

When I was in Alaska, we had about 25 Dodge and Ford diesels... none of them ever blew warm air if they were plugged in. And I'm not talking when it was -30 or anything.

Saw mine for the first time three days after I got it. OH temp sensor said 50*. I thought it would come on anytime it was less than 66* but other days it was 50-60* and it wouldn't come on.

I saw mine for the first time this season a few days ago. It had been 56 that night, and the light stayed on for about ten seconds.

I, too, have never had instant heat from plugging it in, but I did find out that if I leave it in the defrost position and outside, little round circles in the frost on the windshield form right above the defrost vents on the dash.
