I may have to wait for those T-rex wheels and hope for an 18" tire that is 33 tall.

Nitto Terra Grappler makes a 33" tall tire for 18" wheels.

LT 325/60 R18

32. 99" tall

3,000 lb load capacity

Yes but they won't fit on those narrow T-Rex wheels

O. K. Since I had started the orig post on the edge truck and if anyone knew how it was set up, I have wanted to ask where you(nick? can't remember who started this thread) have seen a picture of the truck other than the website or commercial to actually see the wheels. Does anyone have other pics of the truck besides the one from the website or commercial where you can't actually see the wheels, just the overall look of the truck.

Thanks

Here's a link to the company that makes the Sport Metal wheels:

Ultra wheels

Not much info about what the offset or backspacing is. Guess they don't think their customers know enough about wheels to care about all that technical stuff.

THanks, I have seen those from the first part of the thread, but what I want is to see the picture of the truck with those wheels on it. How do you(anyone) know that those are the wheels on the truck. Did someone call and ask which wheels or happen to see a picture with them on it. ? How is everyone so positive on this? thanks.

Not putting anyone down, but would like to know where this all came from without ever seeing a pic of the truck. Thants all. :)

I actually e-mailed Edge and asked what tire and wheel combo they had on the truck. They responded the next day and this was the reply:

David,

The tire/wheel combo is 325/60/20. The tires are "Open Country Toyos" and the wheels are 8-lug, "Ultra Sport Metal Revolvers". The truck has a leveling kit on the front end which raises the front end about 2 inches.

Thanks! -Dave

Hey Kent,

Another question on that wheel...

I see The Weld Cheyenne in a 17x8. 5 in the May edition of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road and was wondering if that picture represents what the T-Rex Cheyenne will look like or if the design will be unique to the Dodge?

Gents,

I apologize for not posting more frequently - been very busy in Baja.

The "Cheyenne 8" is the style we chose for production because it's pretty conservative. All Weld "Cheyenne 8's" have the same look.

The difference is the offset - the most you can get in a normal EVO wheel is +10 mm - not enough for the Dodge. With only +10mm, the tires stick out of the fenderwells. Not good for many reasons. Another special thing about our wheel is that it's "hub-centric" - meaning it's the exact size of the Dodge hub. This centers the wheel on the hub and distributes load evenly, so all forces are not concentrated on the lugs.

We're currently testing the first 12 prototype wheels. Let me tell you, these wheels are STRONG. Last weekend prerunning for the Baja 500, on the hard part coming back to Santo Domingo, I hit a rock very hard at high speed (driver error). The sound it made was deafening. I got off the course and Robin Stover and I got out of the truck expecting to see the wheel "tacoed" completely but it wasn't. It wasn't even damaged! Of course the tire was blown. These are tough wheels.

We currently have a waiting list for the wheels. Call to get on it. We're going to do some special TDR pricing. Mention TDR and you get them for $435 each. Not bad for a wheel that retails for $575!

On the race-dezert.com website there are some spy-photos of the T-Rex race truck as it's being prepped for the Baja 500. They show the wheels pretty clearly.

If the images and text don't come up, perform a search in the race-dezert engine using "bulletproof stock full" or "Newline"
