I'm looking for a dual exhaust. 4" split at the muffler into two 3" to 4" ends.

Only company I know is Advanced Turbo Systems which has thier system at $1295.

I don't need stainless for that price, I was wondering if anyone does it cheaper in an aluminized system.

How about Rip Rook, does he do one??

Yes, Straightpiped of course :D

My girl wants me to quiet my rig down a bit so I (pretty much) got permission to upgrade my exhaust. I wouldn't mind a standard 4" but I heard Ted Jannetty's setup (he has the ATS) and It sounds quieter overall but louder on the drivers side.

Thats what I like! :D

I like the JRE 4" I have. I also really like the looks of the ATS dual on Teds truck but the price tag is a little scarry. I don;t think I would pay the extra for the duals. The JRE regular 4" is already at the upper end of the price range. Might be worth it to see if rip would be into making a dual I am sure others would be into that.

Ted;)

Kevin,

I hear nothing but good about that Rip Rook exhaust. It couldn't hurt to give him a call. From the sounds of it... he's very helpful and has some very decent pricing.

If I were to do it over again, I'd definately be checking out the Rip Rook Exhaust.

How about picking up a "slightly used" stock system that someone has laying around and modifying that into a dual system? Heck you could probably Y it just post turbo and have it dual all the way back.

Jason Burton at Northwest custom has a way narley dual exhaust system on his truck. And it smokes equally out of each side. :D

I think he tolds me he built it himself. Maybe he'd build you one????

Kevin, Stan's Headers in Auburn WA could set you up, he did an awesome job on Evan Beck's '985. But last I checked you were still living in Massachusetts, can you say road trip? ;)

I totally forgot that Andy and Doug at ADT are now selling exhaust stuff. You might give them a call... they are a great bunch of guys to work with. .

Not Too Difficult...

Mactruck,

We have done two dual exhaust systems just like you are describing. My own personal truck, I had a 4" downpipe, 4" straight pipe back to the rear end, Flowmaster 4" into dual 3" Header Collector reversed, and then had a local muffler shop bend me 3" tail pipes exiting straight out the back with 20" long polished stainless steel 4" tips. Check out the pictures on our website:

Dual Exhaust

I was not running a muffler but even with a muffler, the system should not be difficult to fab up.

We thought about putting this together as a kit, but due to the very small differences in these trucks, including spare tire sizes and wheel base, we found it much easier and less expensive for our customers to just sell them the component parts and to refer them to their closest muffler shop that has the capabilites of bending 3" pipe for the tailpipes.

And yes this type of system can be put together at a very reasonable price... :D :D :D

Hope this helps... :)

"Rip won't. I asked him awhile back, and he's not too interested. "

I will soon have 3" mandrel bent tailpipes for a dual outlet system. They should be priced competitively ... ..... Rip

dkilzer is a member, maybe he will chime in here. He has a dual system on his that come out the right side. 3" tips together look real awesome and sounds good too. I think he had his done here local for about $250. It is aluminized pipe and lasts quite awhile on his truck.

For what it's worth, when I bought my 92 (used) it had dual exhaust on it with those nice big chrome tip's. It had a Flow master muffler on it. It look good on my dually, coming out right behind the mud flap's, but when I took it off and put the Banks exhaust on it from the turbo back ,the truck came alive. Why Banks, only exhaust I could fine for a First Gen at the time.

chambered mufflers (like Flowmasters) are NOT good for turbocharged applications... they are designed to utilize exhaust pulses to cancel out sound and to scavenge exhaust... there are no pulses in a turbocharged exhaust stream as the turbine breaks them up and turns the exhaust into a steady stream...

when you try to shove a steady stream through a chambered muffler, you get all kinds of eddies in the current which cause a lot of backpressure...

on twin turbo gas applications, we're picking up roughly 10%! horsepower to the wheels by going from a flowmaster style to a straight though style...

I'm of the opinion that a turbo diesel shouldn't have a muffler, BUT, if you're gonna run a muffler, DO NOT run a flowmaster!

now, the dual pipes are purely a style thing... especially if you don't haul a trailer, but dual rear exit tips on a diesel just doesn't sit right w/ me... but the flowmaster is hurting your performance.

I did not put the Flowmaster on the truck, it was on it when I bought it , It disappeared when I put the Bank's exhaust on it . I gave the dual system to a friend that has a Gasser.

What evidence do you have against this? Just wondering.
