The standard for battery life here in the Phoenix Heat is making it two years. (Some vehicles don't even make much over 1 year.) My last Odyssey set in my 2018 didn't make it two years before a no start (no jumpbox x2 start) dead at 1 year 8 months.
Figure a record breaking number of days in a row of record setting 100+ degree days last year. To counter this I frequently ran the A/C in the garage overnight to cool the batteries/pickup down. I also used a 10A automatic charger to top the batteries off 1 or 2 times a week overnight.
I noticed slower cranking for this winter's lower temps. However my battery tester didn't show anything even testing the batteries while separated. I would call this the two year mark.
February got me a "Service ABS" warning after cranking. Some time on the battery charger made it all well.
March... Now the 67A recall makes short trips worse as the grid heater runs longer in "winter to me" weather. This device is slow to boot and finally display useful info. You can imagine my thoughts, after the gauges finally booted up, about the 11.8V indicating grid heater on, battery SOC, and battery condition.
Yep. Passenger battery dead and murdering the driver side battery. Charging voltage came up quicker than the driver side when charging them disconnected from each other.
Driver side battery No Load:
Load ON:
Tested at the store and both low on CCA's but not bad enough to warranty.
Weirdly charging up just enough to "pass" but loosing enough charge over a couple days to not crank the engine. At least the voltage was high enough to try unlike the past batteries that the ECM wouldn't even attempt a crank.
After another No-Start the passenger battery tested bad. They warranty replaced both. 2 years 5 months out of them. However trouble and fighting them deduct those two months. So 7 months more than the Odyssey with the above extra care.
