I bought used, my first diesel. When I took delivery it had 26,150 miles on it with 206 hrs idle time / 690 hrs drive time. So far I have put 4,969 on the clock and she has a total of 220 idle hrs / 819 drive hrs and a total of 31,119 miles on it. I have had the truck 7 months, 1 month it was parked because I was hospitalized. About 1200 miles have been towing my 10K# 5er, that will increase come spring. My DEF gauge reads about 1/2, never added any. Never seen it go into a full regen I guess it does a passive regen that I read about. I don't think I excessive idle the truck but the hours seem to rack up pretty quick.

Thats about 3 times more then mine when you took delivery, with about the same mileage as mine has now. As said mine does not idle at all, other then cooling the turbo. I never let my truck just sit ,and idle. It seems that the previous owner of your truck let it sit ,and idle quite a bit.

That's what I was thinking after reading about it on these forums. It doesn't idle much except for being in traffic and the cool down of the turbo after pulling the rv. From a cold start when the oil pressure comes up I'm on the move. I live in the Dallas Ft Worth area, the truck lives in the garage except when needed, very cold weather only every once in awhile. I'm retired and the Ram is my daily driver. I'm new to diesels, I'm learning.

It looks like your percentage of idle hours are decreasing a little since you have bought it. I too, oil pressure up, I am on the way. Idling only as said for the turbo or the normal stuff ,lights etc.

Being retired, mine also just sits in the garage, mostly used for towing. Will head for Arizona about mid Feb with the fifth wheel .

You do know the oil pressure in the EVIC is calculated, not measured?

I just assume the oil pressure is up a few seconds after firing up. There's no way to know the oil pressure is down unless the pressure drops below 8-10 psi which activates the EVIC warning. Or unless you install your own sensor. If the oil pressure is not down, I assume its up.

:) Me too !!!!!

Since we use our truck to tow our 5th wheel, and since we travel with pets, the truck will idle with the AC on when we are hitching or unhitching as well as many times when we are refueling. That's just the way it is. (OK, there's the rotated photo problem again.)
