In looking for yalls input and/or experiences with the Super Phat Shaft 66 from Industrial Injection. . Preferably from the guys running manuals... How is the spool up compared to stock?. . Average EGT reduction?. . Overall feel and impression?. . I am seriously looking at getting one as the stocker just aint cutting the mustard n e more... I plan on putting on an ATS manifold with what ever turbo I eventually decide to go with... TIA yall...

I run an auto, so take it for what its worth but I say the spoolup is slower than stock (with my mods), especially from a roll. That said, I am pleased with the turbo, reasonable (though not great) EGT and decent drivablility. At about 40% of the price of premium twins the sps66 represents a reasonable trade-off. Still I wonder how twins would be? :-laf

Well I have an upgraded auto also. I agree that it might be a little slower than a stock turbo spooling, but for me it is not a problem daily driving. When it does spool and that is adjustable with the boxes, it will light up when you want. EGT management for me is great. With HOT Juice on 180 and EZ on level 3 at the track I never see EGTs over 1280*. That combo would have buried the 1600* guage with the stock turbo. I have been running with just Juice on 40hp setting for the last 3 weeks. Daily driver and lots of city traffic I really dont notice any more lag than stock. I am very happy with my decision to go with the SPS 66 instead of twins. I will be testing a TST (with twins program) stacked with EZ and/or Triple Dog programs in the next week or so. Then I may know more about whether I really needed twins or not. If so then I guess the SPS66 will just have to be modified for the top.

I plan on one day building a set of twins around my stock turbo after I have PDR do the bomber lite mod to it... Right now my stock turbo is screaming for a mercy killing... Hmmmm... Twins built with a bomber lite and SPS 66... ~slaps self for getting evil thoughts~... . BTW JVolpe. . Have fun with the TST. . the standard program fuels pretty hard. . The twins program even more so... I cant wait till I get the twins program on mine Oo. ...

J. volpe are you going to run some pressure with the tst? Im very curious to know what kind of spool you get. Also let us know what kind of egt you get with the tst and/or combination. I may not give 10 out of 10 to the sps66 but it still hangs from my exhaust manifold and the stocker sits on the bench. Gotta love that baby from about 13psi on up!! 0-13psi 2-3seconds 13-45 better not blink!

I am sure I will stack the EZ with the TST. That seems to be a common stack for the high HP guys. I am hoping that will give me a little more than the HOT Juice and EZ did. The BDDL programs still kind of scare me. I did load the Crazy Larry and turn the Juice up to level 3(80hp). Low end was kinda laggy but when every thing kicked in mid to upper range was fantastic. That combo is where I saw 48-49psi from the SPS66. My EGTs with that combo on sustained WOT did climb over 1400* so I am sure I was getting more fuel than the Juice/EZ stack. I did not have much time to play and was not able to get to the track, but SOTP said I was quicker. I think the TST will give me more granular control. TST on about 6/6, EZ on 1 and BDDL Performance program loaded I will just have to see what I can do without nuking something.

Get ready for the next show. We will let you know.

I guess that means I need the 3 Flow injectors too. :D , do you need a guinea pig??? I would be happy to beta the injector/cp3 combo for ya.

Once I get some #@$%! time from work I hope to dyno my 3-Flows with SPS 66 and Juice on all levels- hopefully in the next 4-5 weeks!

Although I run a Sledpuller66, It is similiar to a SPS66 - Same 66mm front end...

And I had to run stock+EZ1 for about 2 weeks while I was getting an injector replaced, I can honestly say the spool-up was the same as stock (at stock HP levels around 230hp at wheels)

Will it spool as fast as a WAY overfueled Stocker? heck no, but is just as fast as a properly fueled stock turbo. Also it seems manual trans have much more ease spooling these big singles.

As for EGT reduction, I could hit 1700* on the dyno and I still can, but now I can tkae the levels up higher before the EGT becomes a problem - Heck I can run 7/7 on the street, and I run out of RPM before EGT- With the stock turbo, It was like 3 seconds and that was it!

I opted for the SPS62 With a 12cm WHEEL and the larger compressor housing. I will have it installed by Sat. I hope this Turbo meets our Standards I Like the People at Industrial Injection, and it would be a great to offer their Products.

I really like my SPS 62, it has been awesome for towing. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. My EGT's are lower across the board and there are few hills that really challenge me now. The sweetest part of the deal is that it is now so much easier to maintain speed and proper rpm when the hills do come. I have cut nearly an hour off of my trips (700 mile average) each way.

Also I have been in a couple of Industrial Injections trucks (both Brady's and Brett's) and they are way quicker than other trucks with similar mods (Intake, Exhaust, Injectors, box, aftermarket turbos) that my friends drive. These Phat Shaft's really work well. I say this with no preconceived bias, just the facts after having ridden in many modified CTD's.

I don't know much about twins, but wouldn't the sps66 be a little small for the big turbo in a twins setup?

JVolpe said:
Well I was kinda thinking it could be modified and put on top.

I could see that, just wondering as the person I quoted seemed to be thinking about a twins setup w/ the piers bomber lite and the sps 66

Thank Jim,

That is what I was really thinking. Brown delivered my new TST R49 with Twins program about an hour ago. I think I might feel like I am coming down with something. Might have to take some sick time before the weekend.

Cool! What's the new remote look like?

How's the wiring different?

What's the difference between the SPS66 and PS62? Is it just the compressor inlet area? I've got a River City Turbo with a 66 inlet and a 14cm exhaust housing. My EGTs at cruise are about 100* hotter, but under load it stays pretty cool. I did notice the differential between before and after pyros decrease. That mean they used to be about 250 apart and now they are only 100* difference. Anybody have any thoughts.
