i have not taken it to any diesel shops around me. the only one i know of is down the road and i have heard bad things about them from one of my friends that owns a shop. by the way he is the one that scanned the truck for me (very new snap-on scanner) for free so hes not looking for my bizzness just helping a friend. but i will look into the guys down south of austin and see what they say. thanks for the info.I'm in Buda just down the road from you and it seems like it's more of a challenge than it should be to find a well versed cummins shop in central Texas. I've had Austin Fuel Injection do a little work as well as a guy in Belton who is closing his shop. Malone Diesel out in Dripping Springs is a highly regarded Ford shop but works on all Diesels. Are there any other Diesel shops around that you've had any luck with.
i will try that also. thanksYou need to check actual voltage on the grounds. If more than 50millivolts exists at your grounds. The sensors wont be able to vary the voltage accurately. You need to check ground voltages at all the sensors you can get to, including the ECM.
please do and let me know. did you have to send it out? & if so how long did it take? thanksI had my ECM rebuilt. I'd have to check who did the reman.
thanks for the offer i mite that you up on that. but let me take it to the shop han have it checked out. when you talk about this wire please tell me more. it funny that you say it will come loose if you let it jump and buck. because it started about three weekago when i went to my friends deer lease. very washboard road i want to say it started two days later.I have a good ECM here that you can try. I'm in Laredo. I can ship it to you. P. M. Me your address. It's from my '98. 5 manual It'll work fine to test.
It's probably a loose wire in the 50 pin block going into the ECM. Make sure all those little wires are firmly in their sockets. My truck will jerk and shake hard enough to squeel tires if allowed to lug in 3rd gear... It's always done it, and I have replaced everything.
However, your problem is much more serious. Just email me, Private message me, or call me (956) 740-4015 and I can get this ECM out to you.

I will try that in a few minutes after i write this. Also are you sure about letting me try your ECM Man those thing are very pricey. Let me do a bit more checking before i say o. k on your ECM (not that i don't appreciate your offer it just i am scared that my truck mite mess your up also. )(If that's possible?) I will let you know how it goes if this does not fix it or the other thing I am going to try I mite take you up on your offer. Just want to be sure before I get you to ship it to me. Once again thank you for the offer. What I did, was just got under the truck and pushed every wire that goes into the ECM. That solved some missing, and hesitation issues. (It was acting like a TPS was bad)
My truck, jerks even when everything is working perfect. If I let it lug in 3rd gear it starts bucking really hard. I've replaced everything, and it still does it. I don't know what it is, I just don't let it lug in gear anymore.
I'll ship it to you, just ship it back. Don't worry 'bout anything. Use it for a day, or two weeks, just ship it back when you are done.

By any chance would you happen to know were that ground would be? i think i checked them all but???? Now i am not sure or does it use a ground from some thing other then the body? The intermitant fuel pump operation is possibly caused by a poor ground,The same fuel pump ground that runs the pump also is a ground for the ECM.
