Diesel fuel

At one time I would like to by a new ram diesel.

who knows fuel prices it will go.

fuel prices have changed my mind ,will keep the old early 98 12v long time paid for. still in good shape.

I put about 1500 miles a month 18 mpg $3. 00 A gallon in south Louisiana that is $249. 99 a month

for diesel.

ONE montly Payment of about $700. 00 a month plus insurance would pay 2. 8 months of diesel.

Took me a LONG time to realize how much money I was putting out monthly on car payments.

Everytime I buy a new goodie for the truck, my wife says at least its cheaper than a car payment.

For the 30k I spent for my truck when it was new, plus the extra thousands that were spent on making it closer to how I want it, I could have bought one that was used, but already fixed up for just over 1/2 the price. Now how much does a new one cost? What kind of mileage do they get? What kind of flexibility in fuels do they have? How about bugs, that will eventually be worked out. How about that famous 5 star reputation of resolving problems? What happened to the word $tea*"r we see covered up all to often in these forums? Nahhhhhhh you can have a 6. 7. Ill burn what i want in my 7 yr old rig that is finally close to the way I want it to be, and change the oil when i see fit and not worry about this silly regen thing. What a farse.

Selling that used diesel did someone a big favor.

Also, both of my friend's 2003 TDI Jettas have been great little cars. I have done the maintenance on them and they are a piece of cake. You just need to be sure to use the correct VW 501 spec'd oil. I wish I had one, too bad they are hard to find for a reasonable price.

I saw the thread so i had to step in and say that i am the proud new owner of Gary's truck! He is a great guy and took really good care of his rig. No need to worry because it couldn't have gone to a better home. His truck is number 4 in my fleet of dodge cummins trucks. Ya i know probably sounds retarded but i don't have the heart to subject my spotless 98 12v qc or my 01 qc that i am the original owner of and only has 28,000 original miles on it, to the harsh winter environment of northeast ohio. I hate to say it but his truck is so nice i will feel guilty driving it this winter, although he prevented alot of rust with the undercoating i am in the process of re-oiling all the seams and cracks. I know how he feels about getting rid of a truck, you just get so attached to them they are like your way of life. :{ Anyways i figured i would jump in and say that i love the truck and will continue to keep up the tradition and keep her in tip top shape.

silver bullet ram,

Is it any cheaper to run your Dakota?

I used to have a 02 quad dakota 4x4 and it only got 12-14 miles to the gallon.

I also had a 99 dakota ex. cab 2wd and that truck only got 16-18 miles to the gallon.

x2 My 95 Dakota 318 (5. 2) only gets 12-14. It is also 4x4 with 3. 92 gears. 14-16 around town is what I get with the diesel. Not much better, but the fuel cost 35 cents per gallon more:mad:
