Ford PSD question

Saw a hot rod show on spike TV a couple weeks ago. Dyno'ed a Duramax stock - 194 hp. After adding nitrous, propane, AND a box, (don't remember which one, but it was about the most they could go), they got 455 hp.

Jim

Guys, dont laugh to hard, the Dmax can easily make almost 500hp with just a box,no injectors or drugs, with a stock turbo, try that with a Cummins. I love the Cummins, but I feel the Dmax has a displacement, and airflow advantage, that allow them to make more HP beofre they need to go to a big turbo.

duramax's will smoke a dodge with less money at this point these are the facts takem or leave em. to get a duramax in the 13's is easy with electronics only and a new clutch.

take a lighter truck w/ larger displacement stack a 215hp quad box with a 110hp predator pressure box w/ an upgraded transmission and good bye 95% of dodges on the road.

i did not say faster was better!

sorry to say chevy's have us for ease of bombing now.

you can say they are not but you will be kidding yourself.

CATCRACKER,you hit it on the head. I did some work on my cousins Dmax, and I have to admit it runs real good. When i had dd3's ,comp, full trans. 4" exhaust, and AFE filter,I put a edge juice on his dmax, which is a loaded crew cab 4x4,so it isnt light. Well i beat him,but it was nothing to write home about, with all the money I had in my truck it was disgusting to see how close his dmax was to my hot truck. Once he gets his trans worked ,we can add more power, rather cheaply too,it will smoke every cummin around here, except mine:D .

Hmm seems as though most of you missed the point. The duramax is easy to get power out of, but it ain't gonna make 800 hp without some serious engine mods. That thing will fly apart long before that.

Yeah, and put one out on the road and hook a load behind it and see what it does. I have pulled with a couple of them, and they aren't too impressive there!!

Bob, I wasn't bashing, just telling the facts. The chevy and fords are nice trks. , I just think the Dodges are better. JMO tho.

yeah and cummins bashing has been going on for how many years? Obviously long enough that even some of the cummins owners think they are inferior.

dmax--ha!

d-max -ha, it may be able to make hp cheaply, but let's see who will be replacing their engine at 100,000 miles? make mine cummins!!!!! gm 's got a long way to go in making a real diesel. JMO..... :D Oo.

rest assured it will be a while before you seethis kind of HP come from a dmax, if ever. And if they manage to, they will have spent far more money on it to get there than it will be worth

yogi, I agree I am a cummins lover 150%. And yes I've passed many a duramax pullin my 5er.

all in good fun :D

The stock Allison won't even handle an Edge Hot juice without slipping and causing defueling issues among other problems. What all are they spending on the transmission to handle the power.

There have been several guys trying to run the hot juice in this area and they all had to lift off the throttle due to slippage. But their trucks did run 14. 40s with a good launch.

What are the EGT's like trying to hot rod that thing around town?

Gentlemen,

The whole point of bringing this thread back to life wasn't to bash the DMAX. With very few mods they run very well. The point was about this truck specifically. I'm not bashing DMaxs at all I just wanted to remind people of some broken promises and see if anyone had heard an update.

If it's fast (diesel or gas) then I like it. No matter what the brand.

Now I'm not saying I don't prefer one brand over another;)

Later,

Wes
