I ordered a 2005 DRW 3500 4x4 & I ordered a Laramie with every option except the Sport package. I've always been partial to chrome but I have a friend trying to change my mind & get the sport package with the colored bumpers.

What's your opinions?

First, I'd modify the title of this thread slightly... you might get a few comments about taking a "pole" instead of a "poll". Not that I have a dirty mind, it's all the other perverts in here. :D

Stick with the chrome. Colored bumpers are nice, but man the rocks chip it up, whereas chrome, they don't touch it!

If your going with chrome accessories, then stick with the chrome. My last two CTD's were rather chrome laden so I tried a different look with this one.

Sport is only available with a few colours anyway, and even fewer in DRW. I haven't found the painted bumpers to be too bad for chips, but I don't drive gravel all that much. I still like my cheesy sport grill though. :)

Marty: If your question was directed to me, I bought the Deep Molten Red just after it first came out. I think I like the idea of the color more than I actually liked the color itself. Now I wish I'd ordered the Atlantic Blue two-tone instead. Color is a very personal issue, hope you like whatever you get.

Answer to your POLE.

Don't like the painted stuff on this type of truck, I got the chrome.

Colored grill and bumpers are for S10's lowered to the ground.

I think this one is personal preference. I ordered the sport and the SLT+ (leather, etc. ) packages on our 2nd generation. Paint chipping hasn't been a problem.

The best look was the 03 Laramie - the body color on the outside of the grille and chrome on the "inside". It was the best combination of "Sport" and chrome. I'd even entertain the idea of putting that grille ob my 05 SLT.

Completely personal preference issue... For me the choice was Sport... Much "cleaner" look if that's the right term... In fact in my case I'm almost considering asking the dealer to remove all the badging from the sides and back of the truck except the Cummins logos... Not sure if I'll actually do that though. Truck will be black BTW...

I like the sport. Have it in black with black tough country running boards with kick outs for the dually. The crome is too generic, everbody has it.

I have owned both in the 3rd gen. First was a white sport 1500 QC 4X4 and now I have a white SLT QC 4X4 2500.

The 1500 I owned for 8 months, I felt it was just too much white- looked like it was just dunked in white paint so our local body shop added some color.

To replace the 1500 I actually wanted a graphite sport 2500 and had it ordered but it was pulled from the rail car due to paint troubles and I never saw it. I settled on another white 3rd gen but went with chrome bumpers and two tone paint to break things up some.

I think the chrome cleans more easy, you can scrub bugs from the front bumper without worry of scratches, they may not even stick to chrome as bad.

I do like the look of both trucks. I changed my grill to an 03 Laramie and installed a sport insert to tone down the big nose.

It’s a hard decision, forget your friend cuz you gotta like it. For me if I had to do it again surprisingly I would go with what I have now only because white stays looking clean longer and dosen’t show the nicks as much but I do really like the Graphite, Red and Atlantic Blue Sports!
