A Dodge -non diesel- truck question

Dueling banjos - hilarious!

I'm interested in importing a car from Japan, I know it's a big PITA. Car will be a newer model year, 95-96. Has anybody ever dealt with doing this before, any ways to get around the epa, and custom requirements? Shipping won't be an issue as i already have a price on that. Thanks Jason

PITA will be an understatement. As I recall, in order to be registered it has to meet all the EPA and crash specs. Contact an importer and ask them.

Unless you have a bunch of $$ and really want to do it I would avoid trying. You have to use an importer and they charge serious $$ and then pay some dutys and such... There was a thread on another board about a guy trying to get a Skyline (very fast ricer) into the US and it was going to be $20-25K to import with out shipping or paying for the car itself.

JR2

JR2, thats what i'm after also. Those cars are super cheap over there, and shipping is only $1000. There has to be a way around things, even if it means bringing it into Canada, or Mexico first. I did hear that it would be an option to have the car disassmbled and then shipped as parts.

You could just wait... I hear rumors that they are going to be sold over here shortly, of course they will not be cheap.

Taking the car apart and shipping as parts seems extreme. . Maybe find a GI that is rotating back from Japan and get the military to take care of it...

They've been sold over here for some time. A company in Cali sells them. Their too pricey around $30,000-$80,000. Depends on the model. And they confirm to all the U. S standards.

Skyline = drool :cool:

www.exvitermini.com There's lots of video and so forth on that site of a ~1200 wheel hp Skyline. (I'm sure you've seen this site... . especially if you're into Skylines... . )

Why not buy a 2JZ-GTE powered MKIV (93-98 in the US) Supra?

Neither car is cheap to modify, but go fast goodies are all over the place for the 2JZ's... . There is nothing like an I-6 gasser turning 8000+rpm at 30psi..... talk about an engine that takes abuse.
