I have been looking like crazy high and low and can not find an inbed tank toolbox combo for the mega cab beds. Has anybody else had better luck? Any help would be greatly appreciated as i drive about 8 to 10 thousand miles a month and I am just getting tired of having to stop 2 or 3 times a day.

Thanks!

No because most shortbox toolboxes are 20 inches wide, and from the front of the bed the the wheel wells in the mega cab it is like 16 or 17" i believe.

Check out Aluminum Fuel Tanks. They have some 30 to 50 gallon combo tanks that will fit shortbeds. They are located in Florida, and I bought one directly from them several years ago (got one for $200). They would not ship, but would sell directly. Think they were getting out of direct sales and selling through Northern Tool only. Northern Tool may not stock the tank, but they can usually order them.

Northern Tool - be careful when ordering from them. Some items are not listed clearly or give a good enough description. I've ordered 2 things from them recently that appeared to be drop shipped and didn't match the photo on their site. The description wasn't specific either so I went by the photo - bad mistake. Not saying you will have problems with them or their stuff... just ask the right questions and do your homework before ordering.

I have the RDS aluminum tool/tank combo. Picked it up from Northern Tool. All I can say its was priced right and I'm real pleased and glad I didn't spend $1k more. The gravity flow works fine for me... it would be real easy to add a universal electric fuel pump and switch and force through a set of filters if you wanted to double filter.

Auxilary tank,Blends bio and Marvel

I have the RDS 90 Gallon Combo tool box fuel tank saves a lot of time ,I also run 10-15% bio mix and 4 oz Marvel Mystery oil per 10 gal,I do my blending in the aux tank. I use a 12V electric transfer pump with filter and std fuel nozzle to fill the truck and other vehicles.

I have had great success running Bio 10-15% mix and adding 4oz of Marvel Mystery oil per 10 Gallon of Fuel. ( no fuel filter problems)

My truck is a 2006 quad 4x4 long bed with the 6 speed 3. 73 gears 49K miles, i am currently getting approx 16 mpg pulling enclosed trailer, and 20-22 hwy empty.

No mayor mods just amsoil air filter and amsoil 15-40 extended program and a small exhaust mod.

I use an easy foot on pedal and let the truck smooth out on rpm before shifting that really helped the MPG. Stay below 70 mph to keep the mpg up, i have done some city hwy driving at 55-60 mph and seen 25-27 mpg.

My brother in law has the same truck but has auto and is using the same mix i am and is getting 3-4 mpg better than i am.

If you run these like a hot rod and throttle them the mpg will drop like a rock, just use the torque and not the hp to get these down the road.

Mine cummins is cheaper to run pulling than my silverado with 5. 3 empty.

Not to hijack this thread, by I am looking for an aux tank to fit where the spare tire was as I have moved it to the bed. Know anyone who makes one for a mega cab?

Did you try transfer flow.

Call them and see if they have something in the works

For you guys running aux tanks that don't want to install a separate fuel level gauge to help keep track of how much total fuel you carry on-board, check out this wonderful gadget:

ScanGauge

Since it computes fuel consumption from powertrain information rather than referencing a fuel level sender, it's able to keep track of the *total* fuel you carry on board in all your tanks at one time. Besides providing full blown trip meter functions it also is an OBDII DTC code scanner and offers digital monitoring of many powertrain sensor outputs.

It takes about 30 seconds to install... just plug it into the OBDII port, adjust a few menu settings (engine size, fuel type, total tank capacity) and you're off and running. It works great in my 2001.

Best prices are found on eBay.
