Folks,

A relative is giving me his in-bed comgination tool box/fuel tank and I'd like to hear your opinions and/or comments on the use of this type of extra fuel tank before I :eek: cut into the bed. The (RDS manufacturer) tank simply connects to your filler hose and you fill both tanks through the filler in the top of the in-bed tank.

In Mass. all duallies must be registered as a commercial vehicle (but used for recreational use only). As such, I want to make sure I can legally carry another fuel tank without needing any fuel stickers or permits (especially passing through various states). I also want to know about any pros and cons of this type of setup, i. e. leakage between the in-bed tank and OEM tank, during the winter months just filling the OEM tank, and any other thoughts you might have.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

You can get a ton of info by doing a search of aux. fuel tanks. There are thousands of RVer's with these tanks running all over the country with no problems. I will be putting one in my truck soon but I'm not fortunate enough to have a generous relative donate one.

Thanks Ramboy,

Good suggestion,I'll do a search.

My uncle used the RDS Aux. Tank and traded his Ferd diesel. He loved having a diesel but the truck road hard and his wife didn't like the noise. He had the tank sittin' in his garage and of course we yakked about RVin so much that he mentioned it and I tried to hide my emotionsOo.

Course, I have to make sure it fits the Ram before I go makin' holes in it :--) If I can't make it fit I'll return it :{
