This is on my 97 12 V.

Have an in cab oil leak. Appears to be coming in on the shaft of the brake accuator. Master cylinder was changed a few weeks ago and problem continues. Oil drips near the accelerator peddle. Does not appear to be brake fluid.

Input appreciated.

Might want to pull apart a vacuum line under the hood and see if oil is in the lines.

It happens, and oil will eat some vacuum components and could cause a leak.

Problem is usually the check valve at the vacuum pump.

Oil in the vacuum lines won't be a problem on a '97. They have the hydro boost brake system. Does your oil leak appear to be same stuff as your power steering pump? If it is then the leak is in your brake boost system. Also you might want to check the level in your power steering pump.

Joe:

Not to be controversial but I've repaired several 97's with failed vacuum check valves that runied the vacuum acuators etc. on the HVAC box, so a possibility.

However, in saying that only a minor "ooze" was present, my vote is your suggestion power steering fluid from the hydroboost.

Since its an auto trans we can rule out the clutch master cylinder, which is so small it take no time to empty the reservoir.

Hint. . the aftermarket offers quality reman hydroboost units for decent pricing. A-1 Cardone/Wagner, etc. .

Good luck

Andy
