what is stock housing centimeter on 180hp 98 12v?

Found this glass in line coolant filter on the web the other day, got it in and installed it in less than 5 min with hardly any loss of coolant, it reduces coolant flow and pressure to the heater core hopefully extending the life of the core. Being see through is nice as you can see any possible contamination that may come up, oil, scaling, corrosion, etc. Easy to disassemble for inspection and cleaning. I took a long test drive down to Miami and back (200 miles) and i noticed that my temp gauge was running a constant 1/2 needle width or more cooler than normal at different speeds (50 to 85 mph) and at WOT going through the gears from a stop light. I like, $36. 00, i like more. check it out, ve-labs.com here are some pics.

Great Find! I like it!

Great pictures too.

Looks like a super easy install.

Geno's should stock them.

I will order one.

I found this quote on the web:

"Cummins' Clevenger notes that a coolant filter is an important factor in reducing the particles that kill water pump seals. "

John Clevenger is the director of global products for Cummins Filtration (formerly Fleetguard).

It's part of a long article on Extended Life Coolants you can read here:

Don't know where you get $36 bucks? It's $39. 95 at the ve-labs site, and I can't find anyone else selling it.

Just ordered one. It said "available for 5/8 and 3/4 inch hose" but never asked what size I needed. Hope they get it right.

I emailed the VE guy at his paypal address after I paid for it and told him I wanted the 5/8" version, which is what I saw printed on the hoses on my 06.

All the 3/4 version brings is the same as the 5/8 plus some inserts to fill the gap difference of the 5/8 barb to the 3/4 ID hose.

I realy like the idea of filtering the coolant especially, being able to see it.

But, how much is this going to reduce the flow to the heater core, that we need up north here? It's hard to get heat out of these things anyway.

I put my heater controls full hot and the fan on #1 setting with all the windows open and i could still feel the heat, here in S. Florida it does not get to cold anyways. Another thing i noticed and forgot to mention, the filter has a small bypass/check valve on the inlet side should the filter get clogged it would still flow, ???, i think. I am ging to call and find out.

Ordered mine yesterdayOo. I know when I take the cap off of my 95 there is some scale floating around in there, hopefully this will filter some out.

Must be nice!:) I turn my heater on full, the heater up all the way, my Wabesto blasting away, the controls on the windows only and its so cold out that the windows still fog up and my feet freeze. :-laf :-laf Now that I have the Wabesto, only the drivers and passenger windows fog up some but not as bad.

Yes, it does have an arrow for flow direction. I got mine in yesterday and haven't had a chance to install it yet. Overall, it looks like a great piece, but I did find some metal shavings in it when I disassembled it, so you guys might want to clean yours before you install it. It does have a magnet to catch the metal shavings.

The clamps do look too big. Maybe I should get some smaller clamps before I cut the heater hose?
