Ok guys... Just picked up a 97' 3/4 4x4 with a brand new Dodge transmission, converter, and lines. This truck is bone stock down to the airbox and don't plan on adding much if any power to it. May stick an exhaust, filter box, and a small plate on it over the next few months. Question is: What can be done to increase the life of this transmission? I've researched some on BD's valve bodies and pressure locs. If you didn't have the money for both of these which would you do? I understand the lockup is a common weak point once you start bombing. I'm looking to lengthen the life of the clutches and make this transmission last as long as possible. Is the clutch apply pressure enough on these stock trannies to live behind a stock or slightly modd'd 12v? If it is I may just stick a Pressure Loc on it. I primarily tow with this truck... . No racing... Strictly a driver that pulls 5k to 12k lbs once every couple weeks. TIA
BTW I have already picked up a deep BD pan for it... Truck has a Jacobs Rambrake that pretty much does nothing since there is no pressure lock.
