Infinity/RCA Inputs/CD Player/Sirius

Does anybody know if the Infinity sound system on a second generation has RCA inputs or a CD changer hookup on the back of the radio? I am wanting to hook up a satellite radio system and would prefer not to use an FM modulator. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you bought the Sat. Radio yet? from my experience, I have used both, and XM is far better! Just thought I would enlighten you, in case you had not bought it yet. . Just buy you a head unit that is Sat Rad Capable. the stock head unit is junk anyway! Sorry, but its true. . You will be amazed at the quality of an aftermarket stereo!

You're right that a good aftermarket unit would sound better but there are other things that I consider like aesthetics and possibly warranty. The factory radio doesn't sound too bad to me but that's just one opinion. The other day I went out and bought the Sirius Plug and Play unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter and then you just tune your radio to an FM station like 88. 1, 88. 3 etc. and your set to go... pretty simple and it can easily be moved to another vehicle. XM has some better looking units but my whole reason for getting this thing was to get away from commercials and that was why I didn't go with XM. The Sirius unit will be mounted in the large cubby hole by the shifter or on the cup holder. The cubby hole is what I'm leaning toward because it looks a lot better and is out of the way.

ah, you have the RBR. No, it doesn't have any external inputs, so you'll probably have to settle for the FM modulator.



I think that the only radio offered in your truck with CD changer inputs was the RBS (cassette w/ direct disc select). Now, if you had an RBS and a CD changer, you could make an input switcher in the Cd changer cable and switch the audio from the Sirius box into the CD changer inputs,

I have the RBS and it sounds as bad as my RBR used to!



I pulled the RBR out of the last truck and put in a pioneer 1. 5 din radio. I would have kept it, but it was out of my 96 truck, and about worn out. Maybe its time for a new radio.



Na, I might put my FT-847 in and leave the FM radio turned off.

I would go with a satellite ready unit

in either Sirius or xm. I've had both

services and there nearly equal in format

with slight edge with Sirius' reception.

(Both are great)I think the f. m. modulator would look funky.

I'm pretty sure that none of the OEM radios have auxilliary inputs.



There's plenty of room under the dash to stash all of the stuff that make an FM modulator type CD changer hookup and it can be convenient when you set one of your radio presets to the frequency needed. I don't think that any signal loss is detectable when used in a vehicle. Also, the OEM CD changer add-in changer system includes both a wired controller and a wireless remote. So if your radio has cd controls in it as the one with cassette and five (six?) equalizer sliders has, you can chose between radio control, wired controller, or wireless remote or a combination of the three.
