Hello all, I need to know if someone out there knows the wiring colors and their appropriate uses on a 2001. 5 dodge ram 3500 with the infinity radio/cd and amplified speakers. Each front 6x9 has an amp on the back. there are 10 wires on the amp. I need to know which ones are the "line input to the amp, and which are the powered outputs. I need this, so that I may bypass the amp with my pioneer radio. Anyone able to help???

Here is the deal. In the Infinity system DC, for some reason, decided to run the rear speakers from amplifiers on the front speakers. Don't ask me why. Consequently, the speaker wire which runs from the radio harness for the rear speakers must be bypassed at the front speakers to provide audio to the rear. I know this doesn't answer your questions but should provide some insight when you go to do your install.

The better car audio shops should have an adapter harness that plugs into the factory harness for those type of wiring projects.

Not totally sure, but worth asking around. I understand that the system is not very forgiving if you screw it up.

I'm using the factory indash, CD/Tape, w/ an additional under rear seat boom box, 250W amp and seperate EQ. professionally installed using an aftermarket harness. Works very well.

If you're considering replacing the radio or speakers, try www.crutchfield.com. I've used them many times and always was very pleased with their products and service. They supply the proper harness that plugs in to you existing system. Give them a call. Their reps will tell you what components are a match for your truck.

Crutchfield is great, although they dont always have the best prices, they do have great customer service. And they give you lots of free stuff. If you order door speakers, they give you wire adaptors and a door panel tool FREE. If you order a new head unit, they give you the install kit and wire harness FREE. Also, anything you buy from them has vehicle specific install instructions. Also, you can call there tech line and give them your invoice number and they will walk you through whatever problem you are having. Even though they are a bit more $$ then some shops, i think the extra dollars is worth the technical help and parts you get for free, which you would have to buy anyhow.

I switched to a pioneer radion in my 98 (with infinity system) right after I got it.

I left the speakers and amp's alone.

I use the pioneer to power the amps. Its 25w per channel.

Just be sure to hook up the extra wire from the factory radio (the amp relay power wire) to the Pioneer power antenna output.

Been working good for almost 3 years now.

i know all about the rear speakers deal, and i have been running my pionerr too. the problem is that the pioneer puts out more power to the amps than the amps put out to the speakers. I need to take the amps out of the loop. that is why i need specific colors and what they are... e. g. red is powered out positive and black is powered out negitive to the front speakers. What is "line in pos. and neg" for the front ,and both for the rear. and what are the "B+ and the ground colors. " I do not need install help as far as head units or speakers go.

To clarify that, the wires i need decoded are the ones on the amp that is under the plastic cover behind the speaker. This is a lease vehicle and I just want to bypass the amp in the factory wiring. that way, i can put it back in the loop later. Tommy, That site is for the head unit wiring.

I think I might still have the wiring diagram that I made when I did the same thing. I'll check around for it. If not I'll have to rip the door panels off.

I just got it for the Power.

E7 why dont you just ace out those stock speakers and put in some fosgates, they will sound alot better. I got some new ones in the garage if your interested. Dwayne

Hope this helps. It is from a '99 but should be the same...
