Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Problems with lock up switch on 02

I had a VP replaced in October of '03 on a 2000 model year bluebird. The new pump has 22,153 miles and has now begun to exhibit the same symptoms.

I tested the lift pump psi at WOT under load and seems to hold just above 6 psi. 12psi at slow idle.

I will be sending it to the dealership for the recall on the lift pump/injection pump for industrial engines. They said the school may have to buy a injection pump outright as it was replaced once already

The engine derates and cuts out periodically. One of the nozzels stopped squirting fuel so I replaced that and she runs great at a slow idle now. Just not too well under load.

Engine code is not active, so I cannot pull it out of the computer. It's only active when engine is in the derated mode. Wish I had a computer to test this. The engine flash codes just don't get it.

I also presume that a problem could exist in the engine position sensor? Hard to say with out a reader.

The engine will change tone as it runs. Like the timing is changing periodically for some reason. The exhaust is a very thick white smoke when the sound of the engine changes. Then goes back to normal and the smoke clears. This would be with an engine temp of 190° or more on a warm day.

Sound like a pump? The manual states to check the power supply to the pump/power relay and the ECM. Then test the ground circuits... then test the amps with a load like a head lamp then more testing... ... ... ... ... ... . and more testing..... etc. etc.

Good thing it's going to a dealer... I have 24 other buses to be working on.
