Last Christmas I had a miss at idel, shop replaced #5 injector. This morning I have another miss at idel, at 1500 RPMs it smooths out. So I have a appointmentment next week to replace the rest and at 145K on it her, I am going to have the rest replaced and adjust valves. Going to be about $2900... does this sound normall?

Good luck finding any new injectors. Remans are also in short supply. Chrysler still has several left. Anyway I bought a set of remans from my local injector shop for 225 apiece. (Chrysler stealerhips get about $600 apiece for remans. ) $300 to have them installed.

Call your Cummins distributor. Several years ago when I owned an '06 a six pack of Cummins reman injectors was priced at about $17xx.

Installation is quick and easy for a skilled tech and should not cost a fortune in labor hours.

I would have them pulled and sent to Exergy Engineering in Michigan and have them rework what you have. One call to them and have a chat and you will see what I mean. EVERYONE I know who has sent injectors to them for work(both custom built and stock)has been very happy with their work... ... Andy

Just to give you a benchmark for pricing, I checked the price through Cummins this morning.

They should sell for $425. 00 each or so, maybe a little better on a quantity of 6.

As Harvey mentions they may also still have the six-pack deal, I can't tell this morning.

My distributor (Cummins Northeast) only has two injectors in stock for all six locations.

That may simply be due to low demand, low failure rate or as mentioned above lack of rebuilt product in the system.

I can't see what the factory has on hand, I need Cummins to do that for me while they are open.

Again, this is just to give you some idea of what they should cost.

Bob is correct... .

$425/e for remans,IF you can get them as both Bosch and Cummins are are national backorder. Thus the reason I said send his to Exergy for checking and a rebuild.

I just had a long lengthy chat with them Thursday after having issues with mine and want a new set built and have to wait until they get injectors in as even they do not have nay due to the backorder... ... Andy

If the lack of a certain part gets to be a real issue, they will pull them from new engine production.

There are always two inbound streams of parts to an OEM, production parts and replacement parts.

With the Cummins market penetration into China and the resulting demand for engines over there it is taking more production parts to assemble the engines which disrupts the balance between the two streams.

Bosch will commit to build so many injectors in a certain period of time per the contract they and Cummins agree to.

If Cummins sends too many to production, there are not enough left to send out for replacement parts.

Even though this injector is Reman not enough cores are coming back in to be rebuilt so the Reman injector part number needs to be "seeded".

That means they will toss a bunch of new injectors out as a Reman part number to create more inbound cores.

If new injectors are in short supply due to high production demands they will be reluctant to release any to "reseed" the program.

When I get a few extra minutes this evening I will give a more detailed explanation of how this works.

X2. . Another problem that was unseen ,the R/R injector the Many companies sold form 07/09. The premature failure of these Units have double the Demand, Bosch & most OEMs forecasts form this era. . So now the production is half the demand. #@$%!

Good info here. The shop has the 305 HP injectors on hand, the 06 and up are very hard to get is what he told me. This shop sells theres for 425 and 75 to adjust valves the rest is labor, But since this is my daily driver I have to other wheels to use so it can not be down long since I have 110 mile round trip to work. They are also not far from where I work and has good good to me in the past. But he did say they will check other stuff over while its there.

Update: #1 injector was bad, shop replaced all OEM ones (5) and adjusted valves $2800. She sure runs smooth now.
