I have been noticing a drop off in performance of my truck. Philip was recently here and he was looking at the fuel cone and pin. When he pulled the cover off of the AFC housing, there was fuel in it. What is wrong with my pump, and does it have to have a rebuild or can I just fix the leak?

Thanks for the help!

Jim

The reason you have fuel in the AFC chamber is quite common... . the o-ring that seals the guide pin is allowing fuel to pass and get into the AFC chamber.

The solution is to pull the guide pin and o-ring seal, install a new seal and re-install the guide pin. Not really a big job, just take 'yer time and all should be ok.

I think Greenleaf (Scott) can give you a detailed "how to" on this one so don't panic. In the mean time just soak up the excess fuel until you can do the repair.

First off you had Philip look at your truck.....

ROFLMAO

Remove the top of the pump by following Bob's instructions in the sticky. The fueling pin is in there. It's pretty simply once you understand the basics of the AFC operation.

The lever inside the pump top will have to be removed. The pivot pin in pushed out carefully and the pin is held in with a hollow threaded plug.

There is a good deal of info on this topic here. If you cannot find it call me.

You need to install the new gov spring and grind the reverse (control) lever anyhow right?!

Thanks guys I'll try that. Hey Scott, funny you should mention that about Philip, as he told me he has to come bail you out all the time :--)

I would like to do something with the governor spring, since now that the trans shifts like it should (Philip found my cable out of adjustment), it falls all over itself when it defuels.

It's always a pleasure to visit w/ Mr. Fultz. I have tried to bait him to driver over this way again, but he always has some excuse why he cannot.

Jim, drive up to IN this october!!

Is there anywhere that Philip HASN'T been
:-laf :-laf

What can I say. Have truck. Will travel. :-laf :-laf

This trip netted me a cherry extended cab for my truck. Thank you Jim.

BW if something comes up I need to go that far west. You never know.
