CP-3 (Injector Pump) Replacement Poll

Clutchless shifting?

Not open for further replies.
Well, I set up an appointment Monday morning at a local dealership to have the injectors inspected.

Come to think about it, my truck does idle louder then my neightbors brand new 05. like big time louder. As as some said, 1500* with HOT on 5/5, and I can't get over 1250... . hmmmmm.

I believe these guys are "chip friendly". This one dude didn't care when I asked him to look at a possible clutch problem, he seems liked like the extra push is had. Under 100K, they should do everything, even diag for free right?

Not all diagnois is free. Don't assume it all is if over 3/36 and have mods on top of it. "I" would give a estimate of checkout to start with. depends on problems and where they end in etc. NO one works free, service writers or techs. Someone pays. Eaither D. C. or owners. If repairs end up being cut and dry and covered by D. C. its a n/c to owner if not owner pays for time involed in the LOOKING process.

Interesting data

Has anyone came to any type of conclusion to why the injectors are failing?I know at first with the Bosch injector supplied for the Duramax it was assumed dirty fuel was the culprit so the push for cleaner fuel was on.

After some here and there continued to fail in the LB7 that was ruled out. Then the design of the injector seat cracking was discovered, design flaw. It seems GM has a handle on quality control so far in the newer models.

Time will tell, for the LLY and LBZ motors.

I'm curious about my truck. The motor (if you can tune out the open exhaust) does seem louder.

Also, the Edge Attitude monitor "mode" flips back to zero. No matter what setting it's on, back to zero randomly while driving.

Today while cooling down when I got to work I notice it would sit at what ever number I put it at. I switch to any number, slow or fast button pressing. (e. g. it's on 5, switch to 2). nothing changes. AS SOON as a load change happened on the motor, it would correct it self. Load change either the A/C compressor, blower motor put on high, or just touching the accelerator.

Do anyone with bad injectors and Edge Attitude experience this? did this go away with new injectors?

I may put some di-electric grease on the connetions (tho my motor bay is like new clean after 45,000 miles). and see if things change.

Jason, I was at Edge last week, and its a normal bug in the system to show 0, even if you are on a higher power setting. According to Aaron, if you are lifting the throttle, or are lightly loading the motor, the computer will show the 0, but the nano second you load the motor, it will go to the selected level.

Not to worry, its not affecting anything. Mine did it too, and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Probably many more out there too busy hauling to post.

I spoke to soon in June when I said mine were all good. I've got around 30k on the stage II's now, and all seems well.

Our 05 is in the shop right now getting injectors replaced, at least they realized it and admitted it was a good thing we brought it in still running. Apparently towed in means warranty denial:confused:

Number 5 failed in my wifes truck , see sig. , and it burnt the outside edge off the piston, so they put a new long block in the truck. I was driving the truck when it happened so you know it was my fault!

Just my $.02

Just my opinion,... but based on the process of elimination,... when I got the truck, I had no white smoke. Within 5k miles I had it. I used power service but not all that regularly,. . maybe everyother fillup. I think it's a combination of the new design injector that started with the 04. 5 and the 10micron stock filter is not good enough. At the same time I got all my injectors replaced I went with the FASS with a 3-micron filter and also started using Power Service more regularly or Stanadyne and I've had NO problem and now have 22k miles. The new injector has a hole or two more than previous 3rd gens and they are smaller holes so it makes sense to me that you need to have better filtration or you will have a problem. That's my take to your question.

I have had two replaced so far. Dodge called the other day and said number three has arrived so I will make a appointment for next week. The ones that have gone bad so far are: #1,#5 and now #6. :(

I see a Xzilla 100HP in your signature. Maybe you should have Quadzilla, or whoever makes that box, replace your injectors.

I bet most who had more than one "bad" injector, have had a pressure box on.

I replaced one injector at 230,000 and four more at 240,000 also have had transmission out 4 times

2003 3500 pull 20,000 loads all the time

15000 miles just had one injector replaced. Tech, at dodge said it was not very common. I hope this is the only one that will go out.

Yes, 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 - replaced all 6 at 14,000 - said water in diesel??? No warranty for repair and lost all future warranty. Cost $4,000 plus dealer said would cost another $4,000 to maybe get warranty back. Traded off for '06 Dodge Ram 2500, just got recall notice from Chrysler to install roll-over valve vent hoses. What's up with all these valve injection problems?

Replaces injectors

I replaced all the injectors in my 03 Dodge, truck had 150,000 miles on it. Have Edge box run on #2 setting. Ran fuel additve since new, had one injector (#4) starting to leak and truck smoked white at idle. Decide to replace all 6 with new Bosch ones with Diesel Dynomite's 50 HP upgrade. Truck runs very good.
