1. The manuals that some fellows refer to about injector/valve spring installation-Is this the same Dodge Service Manual Geno's Sells?

2. Does the manual specify valve spring installation?

How to find top dead center of each piston?

3. Where can the valve spring replacement tool be purchased from?

I find the number and tool numbers from Miller Tools for the Injector Puller and Connector tube puller. I am mechanical able just want to have the right manual that tells you what you need to know and also the right tools for the job before beginning. Thanks to all who can answer any of my questions. All local diesel shops I trust with my truck are busy and I am very picky about my truck so I should be able to handle this job with no trouble. Thanks to sag2 for the awesome write up.

There is a post on the HEMI truck website, it has the complete Dodge service manual, including Diesels (big file).

I looked at it, and it has everything you want to know. JUST BE AWARE, even with DSL, it takes awhile to obtain all the info.

The injector puller and connector puller are not necessary as you can pull them out with your hands.

To find TDC of each piston simple remove the injector, look down injector bore and rotate engine (with engine barring tool) until you see the piston come up to home.

Be mindful that the little valve collets do not shoot off and get lost or fall into a push tube hole.

that is some very good advise. believe me you will only do it once. :-laf

there is a miller tool that compresses all four valve springs at once, makes for a very easy valve spring install.

as for injectors they are also very simple. there was a good write up in one of the TDR mags. i believe SAG2 wrote it. there are no special tool needed to install the injectors.

if you get held up doing the install dont hesitate to give me a shout.

Thanks for the info fellows, so you guys are saying the injectors and connector tubes will pull out by hand. Good Deal. Engine barring tool, sorry I am unfamiliar with this tool

Good advise about the valve collets (keepers I assume? Just what I always called them)

Do you guys just compress spring, pull of keepers, replace valve spring, reinstall keepers, uncompress new spring. Anything that I am missing?

RobertP do you know the actually Miller Tool number for the valve spring compressor tool?

Thanks in advance again guys, great info this is what I needed. A few more questions answered and acquire all necessary tools and I will be ready. Thanks Again.

the miller tool number is miller-8319.

yes the injector tubes do pull out with a slight little wiggle and pull.

yup the advice about the keepers. and you got the procedure down. the tool compresses all 4 valves at once. i have learned to lay rags around the tool to make it where the keepers cant get into the engine some how. get a very small magnet and a small screw driver and a good small pic set.

Some more questions:
1. With F1 Injectors do they send new copper seal rings or do I need to order them from somewhere else?

BGlidewell, Thanks for the links, finding TDC seems simple using the timing pin.

2. Do you guys use any special way of packaging the injectors for shipping? (Label Injectors, Rush ship, Put injectors in like a ziploc bag then soft packing material around everything then place in a box?

3. What do the rockers get torqued to?

Thanks again fellows for the good advice, cannot think of any other questions right now but maybe one will come to me later. Find a place that carries the valve spring compressor tool (toolsource.com and also have Miller's number)

Mike, yes the injectors come with new washers and ready to install! As for packaging, it sounds like you have a good idea on how to take care of that. I would do exactly as you had described. :D The rockers get torqued to 27 ft lbs. :D Let me know if you have any more questions. Oh yeh, 4's LOL
