this truck is doing great. if i would have gotten this truck from the beginning i would have thought people are crazy if they said the 6. 7 junk. but i dont trust the emissions on it. not for long life that is.

before i would chop the emissions off, i would want the emissions working correctly also. it could lead into other problems with the fooler box

I am writing to say that most of my trucks trips are for about 1 mile twice a day to take my child to daycare and back home. we live in an area with some of the worst traffic in the country and often the truck idles for long periods of time. Several times it has been more than an hour. my wife has asthma and AC is mandatory on hot days. I would say on an average I tow 5-7k a few times a month. It has been used several times a week or sometimes no towing at all for over one month. I have not had any issues and I have never seen a catalyst full or a percentage full on my overhead. I may be wrong but a good friend of mine is a Dodge tech and is the top tech at his dealership and said they told him in school that the biggest problem they have is people running the wrong fuel and often the pumps that claim to have ULSD have LSD in them. I have said this in the past that ULSD is difficult to find in my area unless you are near the highway in most cases. You wonder where I live? 10 miles from Washington DC the place where all these stupid laws get passed imagine that! I would highly recommend having a fuel sample taken and tested now before adding any more fuel to see what is in your tank.

Unfortunately it may void your warranty claim but it would sure be a piece of mind knowing if it was the fuel or something else causing this issue I have almost 8k on my truck now and by far the majority of its use is in town and stuck in traffic.

I know where i am getting my fuel now:-laf 04. 5's like 500ppm diesel aka LSD. california can have their USLD 15ppm crap and their clean burning non smoking 2007. 5 diesel engines. I hate it for those with soot traps in their exhuast. somebody here on TDR will figure something out for you to eliminate it. probably should look into running the **** out of her when she starts hitting 80% plugged up. also consider looking into exhuast cutouts for when you have a problem you can drive the truck home to safety.

Has anyone seen pictures of the skies around industrial centers from the late 1800's and early 1900's? Even into the 1950's? Pollution isn't a myth, and it's better now than it was then even with many more people and cars and trucks, and houses, and powerplants.

But it isn't good, and it won't get any better as the population continues to expand. I like Wolfy think it's time we grow up and start showing a little responsibility. Saying that our trucks don't pollute and the plants need cracked down on is crazy. I don't disagree there are terrible polluters out there but the fact is it's easier to make us clean up than the big time contributors who run those dirty plants.

None the less, we do add to the pollution. Saying we don't is like saying a quarter isn't worth taking because it's not money. Well, 40 quarters is $10. It all adds up. And if we can't deal with the gross polluters a lot of "little" help does indeed add up.

This is not a time to be selfish, act like we're 3 years old and say "he doesn't have to share, why should I?".

And as for the US vs. the world on pollution: We're the riches country in the world. We were once the leaders of technology. Why shouldn't we stand up and do our part (at least start) and be a leader?

Anyone who thinks we don't have a bad effect on this planet can't add. It's simple. We haven't always been here. More and more of "us" arrive everyday and each of us uses natural resources and leaves a trail of waste in some form or another. We make heat, we burn Carbon, we use oil, we cut down trees. That stuff doesn't magically re-appear, and the use of it has after-effects.

I'm not a tree-hugger. I have a Cummins. I'm taking a chance trading my 04. 5 for an '08 partly because I think I can do a little (and I want a new truck). I also have a Mustang GT. It's not a Prius, but it gets better mileage than the truck does, and reduced my useage. I don't take plastic bags from stores if I can carry what bought without one. I have fabric grocery bags (which are better because they actually hold more and don't cut my hands or tear). None of those things has made my life suck, and I don't live off the grid. I'm as much a part of the problem as anyone, but at least I'm trying to do something about it instead of saying it's not my problem. It's ALL our problems, you can't move to Mars or the Moon.

I would have loved to be around during the Muscle car days. I know the 70-80's sucked for performance. But you know... we make more power now, cleaner than we did then, and with less fuel which is good for your lungs AND wallet. I see this as an extension of the same.

You described a problem that existed until the 1950s as an argument for dpf equipment on our new trucks? That's a pretty weak argument.

There is, no doubt, smog over some big cities in America but can you prove it causes anything but air pollution over those cities? Maybe those big cities which are set in valleys should regulate their vehicles and install all the anti-pollution equipment on their vehicles. There is no air pollution over the city of approximately 225,000 people where I live. We have the famous/infamous winds of the plains constantly blowing any potential pollution away. There is no justification for additional equipment on cars/trucks here.

I'm not buying the theory of global warming. It is a huge jump in logic to make the claim that air pollution over some cities causes global warming. The bottom line here is the climate is not now and has never been fixed. It is constantly changing like everything in nature. There have been cycles of minute rises or declines in temperature as long as man has been able to measure and record it.

Global warming is a religion for those who believe. I don't attend that church.

2007 DODGE RAM 3500 Q/C DUALLY 6. 7 3. 73 GEARS, purchased June 07

1. electronic throttle control light came on. had to take to dealer, they flashed it didn't have part to fix it. when they got the part, they flashed it again.

2. got g30 recall 02 sensor installed, was flashed, fuel mileage started dropping.

3. check engine came on, was told thermostat, none in stock,. they flashed, drove 6 block and light on again. had to take it back, flashed again

4. took 900 mile trip new years weekend and fuel mileage had dropped to under 10 mpg, this was running empty but hard driving. engine light came on again when we got home.

5. thermostat installed, truck flashed again and 2 days later 74 mile of driving light on again.

6. truck in shop on tues and they brought it back on friday. said they were getting 17. + mpg but we have not seen it. running hwy miles it is just up and down and does not level out. sometimes less that 10 and as high as 15. 9. hand calculated when dealer brought it back was12. 9. so don't know where they got their figures.

latest update AX was installed. flashed again

oh, also right after we got the truck in June 07, the front bumper broke in the seam and had to be replaced. the service tech tried to make it our fault, every time we have taken the truck back they have tried to put the blame on me. don't let it idle, (we had the fast idle turned on, so it doesn't idle also the cost of fuel) not driving it hard enough (it is driven hwy every day twice a day) they don't want to take the responsibilty for a piece of junk. put it all off on the customer, we have found out that the service dept has not documented all the times we were there to have the flashes done. we have our records and they correspond with our record of calls to the dealership to set up the times to get the truck in. they only thing they put on the service record is when they replaced something. due to their records, dodge is saying truck doesn't warrant a buy back.

anyone had problems with diesel in the exhaust? we did and have the exhaust tip to prove it, the dealer believed us but said that they couldn't feel anything in the tali pipe now. diesel is also coming up on the dip stick. the service department makes you feel like they don't want you to come back.

GUESS THE DODGE CUSTOMER IS NEVER RIGHT ANYMORE. WE NEED TO ALL BAN TOGETHER TO MAKE DODGE TAKE ALL OF THESE JOKES BACK UNDER LEMON LAW

ADoty,

I'm a big fan of Dodge and think you have a lemon so it pains me to read this, but you need to find another dealer and verify your problems, and see if it gets turned around for you and then you can enjoy your CTD, but if your dealer keeps jerking you around don't lose your service tickets and keep up the pressure. I know with the new smog crap there will be growing pains, just sorry to hear it on your time and dime. Even though I would not buy another brand I would be cautious in your case and buy from another dealer and not reward them for their behavior, its dealers like yours that give the rest a bad reputation. What area do you live in, so you can get some good recommendations, by other members, if you can bring yourself to buying another.
