I'm trying to install an AFE air intake kit on my '95. They supply a new duct tube with the kit. That tube exits the filter box from the rear engine side of the filter box. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to connect the tube to the filter box. There is not enough clearance between the bottom of the duct tube and the elbow of the oil line going into the top of the turbo. I'm stumped! I need another inch of clearance before things will line up. The kit is supposed to fit 94-98, and as far as I know my turbo setup is stock. Is this a problem anyone else has faced? Suggestions would be appreciated. The AFE part #is 75-10072.

Yours must be completely different from mine. I've had mine for a couple years, fit like a glove with no clearance issues at all. My air box outlet points directly at the turbo.

Looked at mine again. Only thing I can say is maybe somehow your box is sitting lower than mine. I have a good 1" clearance between the duct and oil line.

hsmith---Thanks for your response and feedback. I've now got it installed. I don't know what the deal is with the oil supply tube, but there was a bunch of work done on the truck before I bought it. The turbo is stock, but not the original turbo. At any rate, I shimmed the filter box using fender washers and rubber gaskets between the mounting bolts and the box bottom. I was able to bring the box up enough so that the outlet on the box lined up with the duct tube. I also had to make a couple tabs so I could secure the box to the fender. The holes for the ground cable screw and fender support no longer matched after the shim job.

Thx Again, Skip
