I thought I would share some of my findings on the new Pro-Guard 7 filter/Magnum Force kit. I first have to say that I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend $300 for an air filtering system. But after seeing the components and the quality of the parts, I think it is easier to justify the cost.

Install was really easy, total time was no more than 20 minutes.

The finish on the metal parts was excellent.

Directions (that paper that we throw away) was clear with nice pictures.

The filter is down right HUGE!!!!!!! I run a K&N on my pulling tractor which is dwarfed by the aFe.

As far as performance/sound.

I have the silencer ring removed and I didn't hear a noticeable increase in sound inside the cab. Outside of the cab is sswweeeett, especially with the hood up.

I noticed a small amount of smoke (yes, I collected the smoke to add to my after shave).

I have found some gain in turbo spool and throttle response. Keep in mind I have a fairly stock truck. But I am sure that with a chip/box, the ol' girl is going to scream.

Final thought, if your bombing budget is slow growing like mine. I think it is a nice addition to any truck and worth the money.

My 2 cents. :D

Deere: I installed mine a few weeks back, same as yours with the Proguard7 and I also added the prefilter bag. I really love that intake. MY silencer ring is still installed, but I installed the MPC eliminator pipe from Genos, and that thing make it louder still...

I had to remove the intake today, as it was going to the dealer for it's 1st oil change... I will have it back in tonight.....

There are three anchoring points. Two of the bolts go through the rubber grommets in the bottom of the shroud and the third utilizes the radiator shroud bolt just below the coolant overflow pipe. IMHO, I think it is a quality unit overall.

BTW, my mileage has increased 1/2-1 mpg city (18. 8-19. 4)and 1 1/2-2mpg better on the highway 20. 8-22. 1). That is typical shifting around 2K and 65-70 mph. Yes, I have checked the pen/paper method and my readout is within . 2 per gallon. I am hoping with the TAG and an edge ez box, I can pick up another 1-2 mpg. 23-24 mpg on the highway out of a 4x4 7,200# truck. :D :D :D :D

When I changed exhaust it was a instant 1 to 2 mpg gain. I want the air box system you got. Whom did you buy from. I wanted to make sure the NEW brackets and such were used. Was told a little while back they was not a bracket sysyem and that was being worked on.

the company doesn't even know the flow rating of the pg7. - wtf. they say it flows 10% less..... ok, 10% less as compared to the Magnum force???? - i could even do that math - how do they know it flows 10% less

do they have a piece of test gear that is marked off in 10% graticules..... "yep, it's 10% less alrighty..... cue, cue, cue... ... ..... "

so with that, how do you know it is 99% efficient in stopping foriegn material?

it's a lot of money for not REALLY knowing what you are getting - what is there to hide

I have the AFE drop in filter and after reading these posts I will be doing an oil analysis on my next oil change. I'll post my results.

I lent my Jeep Rubicon to the guys at AFE to have them fit their intake along with my OBA system. I'll be going back tomorrow or Monday to get it so I'll try to remember to ask them about flow rates, micron rates etc. I just put their system on my Dodge and it does indeed fit well. They'll probably be doing a couple of small production changes after they looked at my truck yesterday though. :)
