Ok so today I installed my new PDR HX35, Bosch 185's and my ASA modifieds intake kit. Oh yeah and replaced my TAPS with a knob in the dash. I would like to say that all mods went well other than diesel doesn't evaporate so it is hard to find leaks after bleeding the system.

Wow is this truck a lot faster. The best mod of all however is the TPS bypass which cost 6 dollars and took less than an hour to complete not to mention that OD shifts are more controllable and predictable than they ever were.

Now on to the questions:

I don't think that my turbo to downpipe connection is airtight. Is there supposed to be a gasket in between the two or around the clamp? This turbo is far noisier than the last one. would that suggest a leak? Should I worry about this at all?

Finally how do you adjust your pump for more power now that I have more fuel and air capability?

1. No gasket.

2. If it only has a louder whistle, that doesn't mean it has a leak. Won't necessarally hear a sound if there is an exhaust leak. If there was a boost leak, mostly would be a "whooshing" sound.

3. There is a screw that can be turned, and the AFC can be adjusted as well, but that will take a 1st gen owner for that. Never messed with a VE pump.

MCurrie,

Spray some starting fluid on your spilled diesel to clean it off. It washes it off and dries pretty quickly.

Oh yeah, put out your cigarette first!! :-laf :-laf

Thanks for the tip Tugboat. ;) I decided to give the engine another degreasing just for the fun of it. That cleaned it up good and no leaks. I suppose I didn't have any starting fluid handy anyway.

That's a tip I picked up from Greenleaf. I now keep 4 or 5 cans around. You can get the cheapest stuff and it's all the same.

It's all the same for cleaning purpose. If you would ACTUALLY use it to start an engine, John Deere starting fluid is just about the best stuff.

That's a tip I learned from a friend whom I wreched for on his super stock pulling tractor. It would consume an entire can to keep the engine at a slow idle untill the combustion chamber would warm up enough. I think it has like 11 to 1 ratio. (three turbos).

I like watching the guys starting those tractors, two new cans of ether to start it, just in case one is not enough. I keep a can on hand year around to seat tires on the bead. The last can I bought was in July, and the lady behind the counter looked at me like this  I said "well see, I spray this inside the tire, and then get out my matches... " She said " I don't want to hear anymore!

Now the thread is jacked, you need to read the stickies, then send a pm to Greenleaf about making the ve really turn out the fuel.

Michael

Thanks for the tips guys. I will turn up the power adjustment screw and idle it back down in a day or two. Also I have a big bolt with a nut on it where my smoke screw is supposed to be. Is this normal or what? I would say the bolt sticks out the top of the pump about an inch and a half.

I have installed the same bolt last summer when I was testing the deapth of the fuel control cone/incline ramp profile. The bolt is simply longer than the torxs head screw is. Someone was affraid of said screw falling down into the AFC when it ran out of threads. They will nearly, but never fall completely out of the AFC topcover.

Or, in short, your ok.
