With a suggestion from AH64ID (John) and the great rebuild crew at Turbo Re-Source, My truck runs like it never has before. John suggested that I have Tom (Turbo re-source) rebuild my stock Holset turbo and have the stock 6.7 Holset turbine wheel installed into my 5.9 turbo. They have to machine the turbine housing to accommodate the 6.7 turbine. The different turbine lowers the drive pressure and it spools real nice! My EGT is lower too. I have the PDI, two piece exhaust manifold also. I PORT matched the turbine flange to the exhaust manifold flange port for smooth flow from the exhaust manifold to the turbo hot side. I am running a Smarty jr on setting 2, torque 2, timing 2. Only a slight bit of smoke when I stand on it.
Thanks to John (AH64ID) and to the crew at Turbo Re-source!

If I had known about this mod before I bought my Garrett I would have done it to my HE351 vs the Garrett.

Not that my Garrett doesn't run great but the cost is a bit more.

I'm glad you like it as much as I do on the old man's truck.

Still smiling??

Do you have a drive psi gauge?

Still smiling!!! No drive pressure gauge, just boost.
It was my Wife's birthday last Sunday so we took the truck and our 8500 pound 5th wheel to Avila Beach, 40 miles south of our home for the day. I was really amazed at how the truck pulls the trailer now. I am running 285-75-17 tires and have the AE ratio 6 speed with a .74, 6th gear. The truck pulls real good in 6th at 62 mph, low EGT's. Coming home, we have a 3 mile, 7% grade to pull. I put the trans in 5th (direct) and easily pulled the grade at 61-62 mph, 2300 rpm, 30-32 psi boost and 1050-1100 EGT. I was just under 1/2 throttle.
I forgot to say I am running a Smarty jr on setting 2, timing 2 and torque 2. This is the best mod for a stock engine with a fueling programmer. I am also running a PDI, 2 piece exhaust manifold.
When I run empty on the freeway in 6th at 65-70, the boost is about 6psi. I can put my foot in it and almost immediately, I am at 24-26 psi boost.

I am sure interested in those BBI injectors you are running.

Good info!

I now have my adjusted UDC PRO tunes on my sd card to reflash my Ram in the morn.

AND, i just bought a slightly used ATS 3rd gen t3 exh manifold :)
Found it for 1/2 price...

Just placed my order for one of these with Turbo Re-Source. Can't wait!

I took a short vacation to Santa Cruz with the 5th wheel. Truck runs wonderful with the setup. My truck being a 6 speed stick, I don't have the advantage of a lock or unlock torque converter.....BUT, in 6th at 1700 rpm, I can roll into the throttle and get almost immediate boost to 16 -22 psi. I don't pull hard in 6th as it is an OD. I also under normal driving pulling a hill in 3rd, 4th or 5th don't see EGTs much over 980 degrees. This is with a Smarty jr on the 70 hp setting, max timing, max torque (Setting 2, 2)
I also got about 1.25 to 1.5 MPG better. Checked my mileage coming home, 8800 pounds towing, 44 gallons of fuel in my truck bed aux tank, truck tank full, 2 adults and 2 Dobermans in the back seat driving 63-66 mph.

What is AE ratio in your G56 ?

My truck was built in the last two weeks of 2006. All G56 trucks up til then had the AD ratio G-56 which has a .79 6th gear. The AE trans was built for the 6.7 engine that came out in trucks built January 1, 2007 and later. Apparently Dodge ran out of the AD ratio trans and about the last two weeks of 5.9 production of 2007 trucks with the G-56 got the later trans. The AE ratio trans has a .74 6th gear. Makes about a 4-5 mph difference faster road speed at the same RPM. I was educated here on the TDR about this when I was looking for a new 2007, 5.9, 4x4, G-56. The guys told me what production dates to look for and to crawl under the truck to verify this before I buy. I did just that and got the AE trans.
The other gears sets were different ratios also. I was told that the AE was better spaced between gears. Here is a chart of each gear speed ratio between both transmissions. This chart is off of Gearvendors site. The white is the trans ratios, grey is with the Gearvendor engaged. They call the trans G-56 first generation and G-56 second generation. Mine is second generation ratios.

Running on a trip to Moab Utah pulling my 8500 5th wheel and 350 pound, 40 gallon Aux. bed fuel tank full. My truck runs better than it ever did and egts stay below 1150. 14 mile long 5th gear pull on I-15 heading to Vegas, I ran 55-57 mph at 2200-2300 and only saw 980 degrees egt. My truck pulls 6th gear with light throttle at 65 mph at about 12-16psi boost and low EGT's. This set-up that Tom at Turbo Resources built is the best set up for towing. Running the Smarty jr at the 70 hp setting, #2 timing, #2 torque which are the advanced settings.

Time to crank it up another notch! I tow (~8000lbs through the mountains) on sw 5 or 7 (90/160hp) settings with my 62/65 he341. Very pleased with these modded 341/351's.

Are you running a built automatic or a stick? The only thing that I wish this turbo had was a ball bearing shaft support

Just wondered. My G56 is stock but the clutch is not. Got plenty of extra holding with the clutch but I don't want to over do the G56. I would have an automatic with the 5.9 if only I could get a 6 speed auto. The automatic was the main reason I sold my 2001.5 to buy my '07 6 speed. The auto was great empty or lightly loaded but with any kind of heavy trailer, the gap between direct (3rd, locked converter) and over drive was too great....At least for MY liking. I told my wife that if some company came up with a stand alone PCM that would interface with the Dodge engine ECM and control a good 6 speed auto like the AISIN 6 speed, I'd spend the $$$$ and do the conversion. Cheaper than a new truck.

I agree! i would love to have those extra 2 gears! i opted for the auto.......

When I bought my first truck, the 2001, I was still working at UPS and everything short of some little vans we had was a stick shift. By the time I bought the 2001, I had been there at UPS for almost 25 years and was just about sick and tired of having to shift a truck. So I bought the automatic. I had Diesel Transmission Technology, up in western Canada, build my automatic. It made the truck a whole lot nicer but the 47re didn't stay hooked up or locked when you let off of the throttle, it kind of free wheeled so going down hills, you didn't have any engine braking either.
