Today I thought I would install my BD exhaust brake. First thing I do is unbolt the turbo to elbow clamp and snap the nut off. I knew I should have sprayed something on it first but it seemed to turn easy. Right! Called the *******, I mean Dodge dealer and miracle, they have 1 in stock. I have no way to get there and ask my neighbour for a ride. Get the $40. 00 clamp and when I get home see that its the wrong clamp. It's the lower one not the upper one. Call the dealer again. Sorry, other clamp is not in stock and it's $80. oo Now I'm really steamed. Then it occurs to me my Cummins Dealer is only a couple of miles away. Call them and they don't have it either. At least it's available in a couple of days for $43. 00. The lesson here is take time to lube any nuts or bolts before applying a wrench and buy parts from Cummins if it's not available from our Advertisers on this site or if you have to have it NOW. Man I really hate the prices dealers charge. Note: you guys that are not mechanically inclined, don't feel bad. Sometimes I wish I knew nothing about mechanics and I didn't have that huge red tool box.

When I sold PacBrake I kept the clamps in stock... . often when we installed them we'd have the same problem... did you buy your BD Brake locally... also... a lot of the truck dealers will stock those clamps... remember the engines are used on other applications as well... .

Yes I bought it from a local shop. Thanks for the idea. I had not thought of them for clamps but will try in the morning.
