I saw that on there a couple hours ago when I was searchin ebay. Funny you post it. It looks to me like his grid heaters stuck on and fried the intake. Probably the only thing that can cause that much heat in that area. Nevermind the intake, How about that nice golden patina on the turbo??

Yeah, I second the stuck grid heater relay. And I wonder if that gold turbo isn't paint but maybe is discolored from being overboosted...

And check out the amount of junk in the radiator in that same pic. That truck certainly wasn't overmaintained.

Yes a stuck grid heater relay would be the culprit. Heard of a couple of those lately (one here on TDR and one on NW Bombers).

The gooseneck hitch explains the yellow turbo compressor, steady high boost gets it pretty hot & yellows the factory clearcoat.

The first time I towed the trailer through the Rockies my turbo turned a nice gold patina. The mechanic at the dealer where I had it serviced chuckled and said you been workin this thing? :-laf

The gold turbocharger compressor discharge housing is common on any trucks that have towed trailers or otherwise worked for a living. :-laf
