i see banks, crf, stainless steel round intakes, blade runner - thinking about replacing my stock intake and going after market. which one and why ? not a air cleaner setup , i'm looking for a intake manifold:confused:

I run a CFM Red Color, I have had Banks, ATS, you name it. CFM is light and does not transfer any heat. Also has quality taps for Methanol, or NOS, or whatever. Not changing again!

Can you post any pics of the red CFM+ on your truck? I love that color and also like the silver because my truck is silver.

Thanks,

Louis

I also have the CFM. My friend and I have the exact same mods, down to the same size tires. Both of our trucks are 06 g56. We have been racing each other since day one. When i put the CFM on we raced and still dead even. The one thing that was very obvious is that my truck does not smoke nearly as much as it did with the stock intake. Personaly i did not feel any more power from the intake.

I have the AFE BladeRunner, I noticed an imeadiate improvement in throttle response. A TDR member posted that 4wheelparts was having a one or two day sale last winter. Shortly after the Bladerunner I put an AFE cold air system in. If I was to do again I would not spend the money on a cold air system replacing the factory box. Just use a cool blue hose or torqe tube and a good filter, also do the home made scoop on the bottom. All the air intake horns seem to be pretty similiar except the Wilson Manifold Thrasher Intake. Theres a thread on that somewhere recently.

diesel transmission technology has an air horn that looks to be one of the best ones i have seen and runs about a 100 bucks cheaper. its listed under whats new

I have the Banks Ram Air in my truck that I got and installed along with my 6 Gun Bundle. I have posted on previous threads not too long ago from others asking the same thing. Basically, if you're just replacing the just stock manifold without replacing the stock air box, you're wasting your money. The air flow through the stock air box can't pull enough air to complement the larger manifold. If you do all of that, you might want to consider a performance waste gate as well to help the turbo take better advantage of all that extra air. However, the biggest performance improvement that I found with mine was really the new air box, waste gate, and exhaust (along with the tuner, of course). The Ram Air helps a little. I'm not disappointed with it, but if I had it to do over again I would have put the money towards a performance lift pump like an Air Dog or a FASS. You get the biggest benefit from the performance intakes if you do heavy towing or hauling and you put in a performance intercooler as well (along with the other stuff I mentioned).
