The manual lever does not add to or override the voltage output. It could also be that the factory has improved the itbm interface in later model years. I can only attest to my experience. There were many complaints when they switched in 15.

I sure thought that was part of the standard diesel package. I'd go with the factory, it works great and it's probably got the harness already in place. opinions may vary.

Yeah you would think so...... I have power windows, locks, heated power mirrors, but no Key FOB????? Where is that in the fine print. Alot of us get burned by the little things.

Tradesmans if that is what he has always seem to be a mix bag of random stuff. From what I tried SLT trim and higher it alwasy appeared to show up as standard.

My 2018 3500 SRW Tradesman the brake controller was an option. So was keyless entry. My truck has the popular option group. That inlcudes carpet, floor mats, cloth seats and keyless entry.
The 5th wheel/gooseneck prep group didn't include the brake controller either.
Not sure what trim level the brake controller is include if it is at all. But it's a simple add on that can be done yourself or by the dealer. It does need the sales code enabled for it when added.
There is no fine print, it's all laid out in the sales brochure of what's standard and what is optional and what is included in the group options.
Remember, Tradesman/ST trucks are base models. You can't expect a lot. That's why they are 15/20 grand cheaper than a full out loaded truck. My 2018 was 60,655 with the options. Popular equipment group, 5th wheel/goodeneck prep, upfitter module, aux switches, aisin trans, rear air suspension, snow plow prep, chrome appearance group, cold weather group, trailer brake controller, front and rear rubber floor mats, rear park sense and uconnect 5.0 touch screen radio group. Would of loved to had a full out loaded truck, but 60k list was too high as it was. Lol

Yep have to go over the sticker on these when they are lot trucks as mine all are no special orders for me so far. For sure would trade the $ for options and throw in the brake controller at the end after the deal is done, IMO there is a ton of value in the Trademan trim.

Mine are on the commerical side so I have a really good dedicated salesperson, he brings out all the deals and paperwork to my office so I usually never even see most till they get dropped off.

Mine bigger one is a 2018 2500 Trdman, I would say stripped out but anything but, sno group, aux sw's, trailer controller, I actually love the work vinyl and the rubber mats, has 1500lb lift gate, back rack. I was expecting a much lower grade seat set up.

I wont tow/haul enough for a 6.7, but have the 6.4, all in 46,764 after tax & tags. I daily drive about 22mi one way and if get over 50mph I'm lucky. I do have a 1250lb test set we haul in the back from time to time that is really what the truck is for.

OK! Time for a quick tire kickin' session.

If I special ordered a truck it would be another Tradesman 4x4, GN prep, 5.0 radio with backup camera, aux switches, vinyl flooring and seats.
That's literally all i can think of that I would really use.
The Aisin would be a nice option but my 68 is 100k trouble free miles at this point and in the event it did go TU my long time transmission guru is at least familiar enough with them he could confidently go through it and improve upon it. So at this point I'd stick with it.

Some sort of steps, dont have to be factory, but some sort of steps helps a bunch getting in and out.

I agree, but they rust so dang quick around here its hardly worth it. Even the big dollar OEM and high end aftermarket jobs don't generally last much beyond 3-5 years max unless you go stainless which I did custom build a set for a toyota some years ago.
At 6'2" it's generally not a problem for me so I pretty much gave up on them.

I wish my tradesman came with a rubber floor mat and HD vinyl seat. So much easier to clean. On top of that the HD vinyl seat is tough as nails and feels almost like leather. I’d gladly trade for the sidesteps that came with the option package on my truck. I took them off on day 1. They’re just looking to get hung up or crushed in the landing or while plowing snow.

I bought a 2018 3500 and can't seem to get the controller off of light electric.
Tried everything the book says and all it does is stay on light electric or the towing mileage.

Towed for the first time this afternoon. Towed my 35' 12k 5th wheel 30 miles. The brake control worked awesome! Way way better than the P3's I had. No issues with under 30 mph braking. The route I took had many stops and turns. Impressed with the factory controller. ImI impressed with the whole truck. The auto leveling rear air suspension makes it ride like a car empty or loaded. Much better truck than my 07 2500.
