Hey I have an idea, the next time you come down to dyno, against me this time,I have some paper towel cardboard tubes duck-taped together that should work better than those stupid rubber hoses that you have:p

Hey Cat

With you going to the track I figured you would have seen this, the BIG turbo and blower guys use the blue neapreme (saying not spelling) if you go here http://headsupreview.com/wwwboard/

and ask them what your looking for they can direct you, I have seen guys weld alum. beads on the pipes to keep them from blowing off or last night I saw beads rolled on the ends, then they weld brakets on them with a shaft between both sides(tubes) for the final hold. I was told that big truck repair places have this stuff in stock! When I go over to that shop agian I'll try to remember to ask about it.

I run 35 to 40psi usually. Its no big deal, I just don't want them slipping off too much, its too cold for that stuff to happen. ;)

When I get the new turbo I hope to run 45 to 50psi regularly.

Huh? I'm missing something here

Sickly still has all the original hoses, and they have been r&r'ed a number of times. Still work fine after well over 100K miles.

We use silicone couplers on all of our charge air plumbing. A big thing to remember on silicone hoses is to use constant torque clamps. Silicone is very pliable and softens when heated. Even with a beaded pipe you can blow the fitting off the end if the clamp doesn't compensate for the silicone. Another thing is to make sure the clamping surface is very smooth. Cast parts such as the charge air cooler often have a cast line that may leak air.

Here's one of the vendors we use,

Some Psycho I know ;) uses spring loaded clamps on the boost connections. Seem to keep tight even under his 40# boost, hot or cold. Same as the clamps that are on there, just a spring between the nut and the clamp to keep up the tension. Pretty slick.

I only had the stock clamps slip once before I cinched them up:)

What's a can of Blue sparkle paint cost:D Rattle can of course:D

I think you will find aftermarket hoses hard to come by because some are a different diameter on each end on our Dodges. They are basically a custom job.

Larry good link on the clamps, cheapest I've seen them.

HVAC has coil spring looking clamps wound around his hoses, as well as the spring loaded clamps, and at 65 PSI, he blew hoses twice at Sacramento drag strip this past November.

I'm sure he'd also be interested in something that would hold...

I'm running one blue silicon boot that Piers gave me when I was up in Canda. It fit MUCH tighter than stock. As hard as it is to get on there, I don't think I'll ever blow it off!

The good stuff is about $85+ per foot!

Spring-loaded Clamps

Oh, terrific! Now I find out to be really bombed, I have to get some spring loaded boost hose clamps. ;) Is there anything about these trucks/engines that is not susceptible to bombing?:D :D

Weakest Link

Have you 50 psi boost guys figured that blowing the hoses off is the weakest link in the system??

What's gonna happen to the intercooler??

It's just a big radiator, and those things run at only 14 psi!

Just wonderin'... .

Well, my 4" to 3" silicone intercooler hoses arrived today. I hope I have time to tackle the install this weekend. Boy, these two hoses alone are very expensive, but these are the only ones I've found in over a year of searching!

The only goofy thing is, my top hoses are blue and these bottoms are orange.
