I would like to turn off that stupid bright red seatbelt light. Anyone know how? I generally use my seat belts, but sometimes on backroads or driving around my property I don't. That red light is annoying and distraction from driving.

Also, is there a way to change the time that the marker lights stay on with the engine off? Sometimes while parking, it would be nice to have the lights on when you come out of a store after a half hour. And it would be safer to leave the lights on at times while parking in rest areas, etc where there is traffic going by.

Thanks.

I love this one:

You shut off the truck, remove the key, and suddenly remember you wanted to take that CD out of the radio. Push the eject button, and sure enough it ejects! Very convenient.

Why can't you just connect the seat belt together and sit against it? I don't think you'll feel it.

extra power

Here's one I found by accident: You know when you pull the batteries for any reason that you heve to re-set the throttle position sensor. This is done by hooking up the battery, turning the key on and slowly push the pedel to the floor. This lets the computer re-learn the idle to full throttle positions.

Well, if you don't push the pedel all the way to the WOT position... when you do fire the truck up it has about 30 to 50 hp more then before... . pretty neat huh!!

Just kidding!

seatbelt light

I took the center belt and plug it into the fixed reciever on the drivers side belt . It is right next to my right hand if I want to use my belt all I do is unplug it and let it sit, plug my belt in and all is well. no light

door open chime

TBrennan & Rankram;

I don't know if it will be the same or not, but , on my 99 Ram, the plug for door open chime is in the steering column right behind the steering wheel. I thought it was a strange place for it, but, what the hey. The nice thing about it was that the door open was the only chime that it deleted. the headlite when vehicle off was not affected. nor was any other feature. It sure is nice to be able to have the door open for more stereo sound while working close by.

I will have to find out about it on my new Ram.

Also, I found out about the disableing feature right here on the TDR last year, after asking the technicians at two different Chrysler dealerships (at no avail).

Maybe someone can tell us if the 2003s & 2004s are the same as the 1999 as far as this issue is concerned. :)

Reminds me of the kid in grade school who told me that if you pull back on BOTH levers on a dozer, it would split in half.

To shut the door chime off on an 03 or 04, take something like a phillips screwdriver and slide it thru the door latch on the door, from the inside of door to the outside, this closes the latch and shuts the chime off. Just don't forget to pull the inside or outside door handle to release the latch, or it could damage something when you close the door.

door chime

If we can find the right person to help us with finding the wire plug , we can disable it without doing any harm , and not to mention that we would not have to do something each time that we want to open the door. Also it would enable a person to give the next owner the opportunity to have it enabled , without major work.

I am sure that there is a plug somewhere, just the same as there is on my 1999 model. It'll just take finding the right person to find it, or that already knows, and let us know.

BTW one of the techs at one of the Chrysler dealers admitted to knowing where the plug was,on my 99, when I showed it to him, after I had found out about it on the TDR. I thought that maybe that I had wrongly worded my original request to him, or that he was being a real @$$.

seat belt light

C CLEMENT,

If you pry the seats apart where the seat belt receiver is, you'll notice that there is a set of wires attached to it . Maybe you could experiment, eh. ;) :D

Or should you hook them together... ... . Don't do it because I mentioned it:confused: . Get a schematic and you should be able to figure it out without doing any harm.

Sounds like it might be just a continuity sensor. I'd get 2 alligator clips and a short piece of wire, piercing the insulation of the stock wires and see if it does the trick.

Sorry guys, I posted this in another thread:

Mission: Disable key in/door open chime

There is 20 guage light blue wire at the base of the steering column on the left side. Have to remove a few screws to get the knee bolster off for access. Pin 5 on the black 14 way plug. (between the 16gu red and 20gu black w/dark green wire)

Disclaimer: I did this BOMB probably before my check even cleared while programming out the stupid horn chirp and automatic locks so I have no way of knowing what else it might've effected. I know I don't have the anoyance of the chime when the door is open, but I don't know if there are any good things I'm missing. (like is everyone elses radio without display or non functioning wheel controls in ACC mode?)

It's sort of a tight spot but try to leave some room to reconnect if there's something negative for you after and want to switch back. (and just in case, keep your face away from the airbag when you clip it)

It's about a 5 minute job. Good luck Jim. This post will self-destruct in 5 seconds.....

I just made another discovery. I have the AM/FM Cassette Compact Disc with Infinity Speakers, and when in the FM mode it will display the name of the song and artist that sings the song. However, not all the stations will do this.
