LEDs for Dash and A/C panel?

On additional thing I noticed tonight is that when I go to crank the truck over, it kills the interior lights completely. They would always dim some. But, this is the first I have seen them go completely out when cranking.

My MIL’s 01 Town&Country caused me great concern years ago. It threw a litany if P B and C DTC’s. As I was doing my homework the next day, the battery I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER the bed at the mall. No codes since.

We owned a 2007 and something SLIGHTLY similar to the weird dash light up happened to it. Dealer diagnosed failing TIPM. does any of JG's problem go in this direction?

I had no hands on time with the truck when this happened or such, just relating an older memory.

Gary, I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. His remark about the interior lights in post 23 is very telling.

I am on my 2nd TIPM and holding my breath that this isn't signs of the 3rd failure. Crossing fingers that it is a battery problem or connection issue.

The Interstate batteries from Costco are not the same as the ones off the little rack at a service station. It’s obvious when pricing. That said, I’m not sure where Justin got his.

Mine came from my buddy's garage. He is an Interstate dealer.

Sure ain’t a conclusion them’s rare from me till the last bandaid has been issued.

But now we learn it’s already had the TIPM replaced.

Quick update. I didn't have much of a chance to do much with the truck today. Had to finish a water pump on another and we spent some time outside enjoying the 65 degree weather today.

Anyway, I put the battery charger on the truck for most of the afternoon. It started with no dimming of lights. The gauge cluster still acted up however. Check engine light is off most likely due to the number of starts. Still showing P2609 and P2509.

Eric called Interstate for me today. If it is indeed the batteries, the will prorate the 6 year warranty for me to the tune of ~ $50 per battery.

Justin, not sure about your year, but mine had a cab to engine ground that broke off the cab. It’s under the drivers foot area going to the starter/ bell area. It’s things like that id be looking for as well.
Who will be the judge in evaluating those batteries? I’d let them sit a day disconnected to shed that surface charge you just gave em.

I don't know for sure. I'm going to be away for a few days. So, I think I am going to leave it down at Eric's place over the weekend if I can. I'm not sure if he will make the determination or if the Interstate Rep has to verify. I'll ask him tomorrow when I am down there. I had a windshield put in the 2010 today. So, I need to go down for an inspection sticker anyway.

I will give it a thorough look. But, It will have to wait until probably Tuesday at the earliest.

I would let it sit on a charger at least 12hrs. Also another strange phenomena, the voltmeter would hesitate before it indicated it was charging at 14vdc.

Just a quick update. In the process of cleaning all connections, etc.

Here is how the batteries load tested.

This is the grounding strap on the side of the block. Noticed that it was only finger tight. Not sure if it was knocked loose when changing the oil pan last spring or if it just worked loose over time.
