Since I will have my trans out this weekend for an oil pan gasket replacement, I was wondering if it would be really worth it to change out my lift pump.

The pump seems fine to me, I haven't checked my fuel pressure in a while and it rarely ticks anymore. No stumble from the engine under hard accelerations, so I assume it is getting enough fuel and the pressure is still fine. But being I have everything out of the way for a quick, easy and painless swap, is it really worth it or should I just clean or the pre-heater screen and leave the pump alone?

I know the 'ol saying don't fix it if it ain't broken and I tend to try and live by that, so what do you guys think, just leave it alone and clean the screen? :confused:

Thanks, Joe

Joe "TRUST ME" if its working LEAVE IT ALONE!

Wish I had $150 later when it was just my Gov. arm all outta whack!! :{ :{ :{ :{ :{ :{

I agree with the others, leave it alone. Keep in mind, it's not very hard to replace even when your truck is fully assembled. The only thing you have to be careful of is dropping the pushrod inside the engine when you remove the pump.

Sounds good guys, I guess it's staying where it is. Truck is going back together nicely and should be back on the road this afternoon. :D
