Yep, mine did that, day before yesterday, for the first time. I really don't think it's anything to worry about. Nothing else changed, as far as the way the truck was running. When I got home, I shut the truck off, waited a few minutes, and restarted. The gauge was back to it's normal readings.
MMeier - I am also noticing a 2000-3000 psi drop after a 1. 5 hour highway commute. Starting idle psi is 6-7k, sometimes when I get home is 3-4k at idle in the garage. I'm seeing a lot of variability in the readings at highway speed (65mph). Sometimes it's 15k, sometimes it's 17. 5 or 18k. Not sure what is up with that.
I consider the variations in the readings of the gauge at highway speed as normal. No road is perfectly flat, and as you either let off the pedal, or push the pedal further, the pressure will change slightly to keep the same speed.
For what it's worth, I don't believe the gauge is the issue. I talked to lmills about it, and he has seen the same thing with the gauge built into his pressure box.
