Anyone have thier pressure drop to 2500-3000 PSI after a long run on the highway?

Yep, mine did that, day before yesterday, for the first time. I really don't think it's anything to worry about. Nothing else changed, as far as the way the truck was running. When I got home, I shut the truck off, waited a few minutes, and restarted. The gauge was back to it's normal readings.

MMeier - I am also noticing a 2000-3000 psi drop after a 1. 5 hour highway commute. Starting idle psi is 6-7k, sometimes when I get home is 3-4k at idle in the garage. I'm seeing a lot of variability in the readings at highway speed (65mph). Sometimes it's 15k, sometimes it's 17. 5 or 18k. Not sure what is up with that.

I consider the variations in the readings of the gauge at highway speed as normal. No road is perfectly flat, and as you either let off the pedal, or push the pedal further, the pressure will change slightly to keep the same speed.

For what it's worth, I don't believe the gauge is the issue. I talked to lmills about it, and he has seen the same thing with the gauge built into his pressure box.

will these results lead to a permanent "fix" for us RP guage guys?

I have engaged with one gauge owner in an attempt to understand what is really going on, the conditions that cause it, etc. We are performing some experiments, making some changes, etc. to see what might be going on. Try cycling power on the gauge.

well if anyone can figure it out it's you. hope you get it all straight. thanks

My gauge is doing the same thing also. Starting idle 5-6K and after I run the truck for about 30 min. or so it will drop to 3-4K at idle.

Work through your retailer for troubleshooting and any particulars relating to your truck

(if thats me, my email address is doug(at)dieselspecialtiesllc.com)

Has anyone performed the power cycle experiement?

I haven't. Mine's only done it the one time.

The highway readings will vary. thats just the nature of rail pressure. But the idle pressure should be pretty consistent. two thoughts:

1. where is your power connected? it should be inside the cab to a switched source.

2. when you are reading what appears to be low idle pressures, cycle the power on the gauge by removing/re-installing the fuse. You can do this while the truck is running at curb idle with parking brake set. plse report back on the results of this experiment! Also PM me or write me email at:

Doug, power is switched, and on todays haul when it was reading high I reached behind and unplugged the gauge then plugged it back in, readings seemed to stay "normal". When it was idling around 3k I did the same and it then read around 5500. . any ideas? Has to be the gauge, don't see how the sensor is bad, also, when I shut the rig down when it has been reading high the gauge will stay up around 10-15k Even checked the power lead, no power going to gauge, must be the gauge, correct?

ok. today my RP gauge starting acting funky.

First off MMeier, my auto meter one will stay put the second you cut power, same as the diprocal RP one.

Ok, my issue. typical idle is 6000-ish since I got this gauge (few months now). Today it started to idle, with out fluctuations at 10,000. So I shut the truck down. started back up, and idle pressure was back to normal. Go on my way. approximately the same amount of miles later, same thing! Instead of pulling a fuse, since the fuse is in the over head console I turn the key forward to the start position, that killed the power to the Accessories, doing the same thing and the gauge went back to normal with out shutting down the motor.

What is the fix for this? it is a lose wire thing? or a gauge thing?

NGM Diesel, I ordered this gauge with Wade.

jason, if there is a problem we will take care of it, wade stands firm on customer service. the only known fix for know is to disconect the wire harness from the back of the guage and let it reset itself, other than that im not sure. hopefully that will fix your problem. thanks

hmmmm. . ok.

I am also having this problem. It always starts at 7k on idle on the gauge. A little while later (I think like 5 to 10 min) and it starts reading between 3k to 5k on idle. This same difference, is approximately the cruising difference where I am usually right around 20k. . and now I am like at 16k to 17k. Once I turn the truck off and back on, it goes back to normal for like 5 to 10 min. I am wondering if it is pump or something else. Should I be concerned about a larger problem??...
