C8.3s on hold?

1 million mile Ram

From reading the latest truck mag's and seeing a news segment on TV the big 3 have been designing their 03 models with women in mind. Adjustable pedals, quieter engines for the diesels, plusher interiors. What next flower holders on the dash? My experience in life has taught me that you can't have it both ways. If they are going to make these trucks seem softer for the women to like them then they will end up being softer trucks.

Women women:eek: Whats this world coming to?And I married one of them women:-{} I can say that cause the wife never looks at this site:D

I agree with Pit Bull. The third gens are a little more "plushy". I like the business like interior of the older trucks myself. At UPS, they had mostly Macks and a few Ford tractors. The Macks had nice square guage layout and a nice but masculine cab interior. The Fords looked like a "soccer moms " mini van! Chris

One of the things I've seen happen over and over from the big 3 is that when they want to go after a new market they tend to forget the market they already have. I saw it with GM when they tried to go after the japanese car buyer and started putting controls like japanese cars in theirs. Drove me nuts because I was used to and liked the controls they'd had for a LONG time (cruise, wipers, headlights, HVAC, etc). Same with IFS suspensions on HD trucks - what about the guys who really use their trucks. And so it continues . . . .

I also niticed on the '03's, that if you choose the leather option, you loose the option of shifting into 4wd like a man, you get the push button 4wd crap, WTH? Who else does this tick off, or is it just me?

I hate to say it, I really, really, hate to say it, but I like the way ford does it, they have the swoopy body style 1/2 ton (girl truck), and then a truck lookin' 3/4 and 1 ton. Maybe Dodge should incorporate this into their line, make the 1/2 ton all snugglely inside, complete with car like mushy suspension, and leave the 3/4 and 1 ton's to be work trucks, for the dudes.

Must be for all the horse people. My sister is one of them. Although she would rather have nice loud diesel. Likes straight pipes too. :D

Ya BUT we all know ... Horse people are all weird :p . . they buy A#1 Premium dairy hay for their horsey. . [they think it makes a better horse or they want to treat it good]... horses have the worst digestive system there is. . they do very well on bean hay for Pete's sake at about 1/2 the cost of premium alfalfa

I know all about horse people ;) I sell about 5500 tons of horse hay a year, probably better than 500 tons to woman in power strokes.

Aww hell with them! Give 'em some nasty old Cattle grazer!!! That's why I love cows. They eat whatever you honk the horn and throw out in the pasture!

Cows are like Guys= low maintenance.

Women are like horses= COMPLICATED!

I have been on and off with the same girl since high school for 8½ years now, and still have not figured her out!

I really think the pedal adjustment is to keep small people a bit further off the airbag. Because airbags kill old, young, and small folks.

Mine are disabled and if that lady(86) that hit me the other day had had airbags go off in her car, she'd be in really bad shape if not dead.

When they get the trucks completely girliefied, I suppose we'll have to drive farm tractors and backhoes to work.

All women aint like that

I'm afraid all the Pherds and Chevys are going to be :{ :{ when my little sister gets her CUMMINS and smokes em out all the time. OOOOH man she's almost as crazy as me about my CUMMINS. Bless her CUMMINS lovin heart.

You young pups;) probably don't realize some of us old geezers;) like a little softer ride after years in a hard saddle.

Another factor is bigger 5ers need a real truck and more baby boomers are retiring (oldest boomers are about 58 now). Dodge will keep uppin' the power and torque, and making a nicer cabin 'cause the wife has to ride in it too. My wife wanted dual temp zones heated seats 'cause a cold body aches. . . and when the body aches . . . I ain't gettin. . . . . you fill in the blank :D

btw, I found a good soft saddle over 30 years ago and still have it, but no horses for 25 years. Ya never know when I might get a horse again.

Strange. Alfalfa's too rich for horses, or so I thought.

OFF subject but

I don't know much about hores but don;t let the secret out I sell some hay to horse people and they are usual willing to pay top dollar for good hay and they bring the price of SO SO hay up also and that helps anybody selling hay, as long as the check is good I am happy.

On subject I like a truck that rides like a truck with Manual features NOT everything has to be automatic like speed sensitive wipers, come on do we really need it? I really hate DRL's with a passion, moveable pedals that won't ever give you greaf!? ya right. I have power window and locks and seat but I don't need them once the seat is set never moves it will rust in place. To each there own I guess.

Craig, I agree 100%. I have power seats on my Toyota Landcruiser its a 1995 with 125K miles. I know someday when I go to move the seat from where my wife keeps it to where I need it the electric motor is going to go ^^ and it will cost big $$$ to fix. A manual seat is no problem. They put way to much electric stuff on all of these new Trucks, just something to fail and cost $$
